Title: Carpenter

Performs general maintenance repairs and completes small renovation projects for the DeKalb County School District (DCSD) system.

Essential Job Duties

• Completes assigned projects according to specifications and designs, including ceiling and tile work,building, and removing walls, hanging sheetrock and finishing, and hanging doors.
• Assists with the relocation, setup, and related facility needs of portable classrooms.
• Constructs, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures made of wood and other materials.
• Secures materials, tools, supplies, and equipment necessary to complete assigned projects efficiently and safely.
• Reviews plans and completes small renovation projects; constructs steps and landings.
• Communicates with supervisor every morning on work plans, reviews any incomplete work orders to ensure completion, and closes completed work orders electronically.
• Keeps tools maintained and organized to support safe and efficient completion of assigned work.
• Operates assigned District vehicles in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and safety requirements.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Associate's degree or equivalent college coursework/training from a Professional Standards Commission approved accredited college or university is preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in carpentry, construction, or a closely related field required.
