Centre Head cum IT Trainer

The Centre Head-cum-IT Trainer will manage the day-to-day operations and performance of the training centre while delivering high-quality IT and digital-skills training. The position is responsible for centre administration, team supervision, learner outcomes, stakeholder coordination, compliance, reporting and achievement of training and placement targets.

Key Responsibilities

Centre Operations

  • Manage the day-to-day functioning of the training centre.

  • Ensure the centre opens and operates according to the approved schedule.

  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, disciplined and learner-friendly environment.

  • Prepare and monitor batch schedules, trainer allocations and classroom or lab utilisation.

  • Ensure the availability and proper functioning of computers, internet connectivity, software and other training resources.

  • Maintain the centre’s assets, stock, records and infrastructure.

  • Coordinate repairs, maintenance and procurement requirements through authorised processes.

  • Ensure compliance with NIIT Foundation’s operational, branding, safety and safeguarding standards.

Team Management

  • Supervise trainers, mobilizers, placement executives and support staff assigned to the centre.

  • Allocate responsibilities and monitor individual and team performance.

  • Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews.

  • Provide coaching and support to improve training and operational quality.

  • Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, conduct and adherence to organisational policies.

  • Escalate staffing, performance or disciplinary concerns through the prescribed process.

  • Promote collaboration among training, mobilization and placement teams.

IT Training Delivery

  • Deliver classroom, virtual and lab-based training according to the approved curriculum and session plans.

  • Train learners in areas such as:

    • Computer and digital fundamentals

    • Operating systems and file management

    • Microsoft Office or equivalent productivity tools

    • Internet, email and online collaboration

    • Digital safety and cybersecurity awareness

    • Data entry and workplace applications

    • Basic hardware, networking and troubleshooting

    • Employability and workplace digital skills

    • Other IT modules assigned under the project

  • Conduct practical demonstrations, exercises, projects and assessments.

  • Adapt training methods to suit learners with different educational and digital-literacy levels.

  • Provide remedial support to learners requiring additional assistance.

  • Ensure learners follow acceptable-use, privacy and cybersecurity requirements.

Learner Management

  • Monitor learner attendance, punctuality, participation and academic progress.

  • Ensure learners receive appropriate orientation and induction.

  • Identify learners at risk of dropping out and coordinate timely interventions.

  • Counsel and motivate learners to improve attendance, retention and course completion.

  • Address learner grievances promptly and escalate sensitive matters appropriately.

  • Promote respectful conduct, equal opportunity and a harassment-free learning environment.

  • Ensure incidents relating to learner safety or safeguarding are reported immediately.

Mobilization and Batch Formation

  • Coordinate with mobilizers to achieve enrolment and batch-start targets.

  • Monitor lead generation, counselling, document collection and enrolment conversion.

  • Verify candidate eligibility and completeness of enrolment documentation.

  • Ensure that candidates receive accurate information about courses, certification and employment opportunities.

  • Support community outreach, counselling sessions and enrolment drives when required.

  • Ensure that no candidate is given misleading employment or salary assurances.

Assessment and Training Quality

  • Conduct diagnostic, formative, practical and final assessments.

  • Monitor curriculum completion and adherence to approved session plans.

  • Observe training sessions and provide feedback to other trainers.

  • Review learner assignments, projects and assessment results.

  • Implement remedial plans for identified learning gaps.

  • Participate in trainer-development and standardisation programmes.

  • Maintain supporting evidence required for quality reviews and audits.

Placement Coordination

  • Coordinate with the placement team to assess learners’ job readiness.

  • Support resume preparation, mock interviews and workplace-readiness sessions.

  • Monitor interview participation, selection, joining and post-placement retention.

  • Ensure that learners understand job roles, salary, location and employment conditions before referral.

  • Review centre-level placement performance and address gaps with the project team.

  • Support employer visits, job fairs and recruitment drives.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of enrolment, attendance, assessments, certification, placement and retention.

  • Update prescribed systems, trackers and management-information platforms.

  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly centre-performance reports.

  • Monitor targets and prepare corrective action plans where performance is below expectations.

  • Maintain documentation for audits, programme reviews and stakeholder reporting.

  • Ensure personal information and learner documents are stored and shared securely.

  • Verify the accuracy of data before submission.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Coordinate with project teams, community partners, employers, vendors and local stakeholders.

  • Represent NIIT Foundation professionally during meetings and centre visits.

  • Support donor, client, government or leadership visits to the centre.

  • Provide timely updates on achievements, risks and operational requirements.

  • Develop positive relationships with local institutions and community representatives.

Financial and Administrative Controls

  • Monitor centre expenses within the approved budget and processes.

  • Maintain authorised expense records, bills and supporting documents.

  • Ensure that fees or payments are not collected from learners unless expressly approved.

  • Support asset verification and inventory audits.

  • Report loss, damage, misuse or suspected financial irregularities immediately.

  • Achievement of enrolment and batch-start targets.

  • Learner attendance, retention and course-completion rates.

  • Curriculum completion and assessment performance.

  • Certification and placement outcomes.

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Applications, Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Candidates with a relevant graduate degree and recognised IT certifications may also be considered.

  • Training of Trainers, centre-management or project-management certification is desirable.

Experience

  • Three to six years of experience in IT training, vocational education, centre management or programme operations.

  • At least two years of hands-on IT training experience is preferred.

  • Experience supervising a training centre or a small operational team is desirable.

  • Experience working in skill-development, education or social-impact programmes will be an advantage.

Technical Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of computers, operating systems and internet applications.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Familiarity with basic hardware, software installation, networking and troubleshooting.

  • Understanding of digital safety, cybersecurity awareness and data protection.

  • Ability to operate online learning, assessment and reporting platforms.

  • Knowledge of programming, data analytics, cloud tools or other project-specific technologies is desirable.

Managerial and Training Competencies

  • Strong facilitation, presentation and classroom-management skills.

  • Ability to explain technical concepts in simple language.

  • Effective team supervision, planning and problem-solving abilities.
