Job Description

The Centre Manager will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the centre. This role oversees the day-to-day management of testing facilities, advanced instrumentation, and compliance with safety and quality standards.

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of advanced testing and analytical equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability
  • Establish and enforce laboratory safety protocols, ensuring compliance with relevant safety regulations
  • Coordinate laboratory access, equipment booking, and user onboarding, including training researchers and external users on lab procedures and equipment operation
  • Oversee laboratory inventory and asset management
  • Supervise laboratory technical staff and coordinate daily work schedules to ensure efficient lab operations and timely delivery of testing services
  • Lead the development of projects, including drafting proposals and grant applications

Qualifications

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related discipline.
  • More than five years’ experience in managing research laboratories or testing facilities
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with equipment relevant to hydrogen research including but not limited to NMR, XPS, XRD, GC/GC-MS, MS, sorption analysers, thermal reactors, electrochemical reactors, ICP-MS, glove boxes, EPR, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory safety, risk management, quality standards, and regulatory compliance
