CEO of Systemic Trust Operations

You will take ultimate accountability for leading Systemic Trust Company from licensing to commercialization in a high-accountability revenue-first mandate. You will personally originate and close institutional relationships, particularly within Canadian family offices and crypto-native funds, while building a credible and compliant custody platform. You will own STC's pipeline development, RFP responses, and pitch leadership, and serve as the senior relationship owner for key client accounts. You will represent STC at industry conferences, regulatory roundtables, and client events to generate new business. You will define STC's competitive positioning, direct the development of strategic partnerships, and evaluate new service offerings alongside the Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Technology Officer. You will transition STC from a licensed entity to an active custodian with live assets. You will serve as the primary liaison between management and the Board, maintain STC's governance framework in compliance with Alberta's Loan and Trust Corporations Act, and develop senior-level relationships with regulators including ATBF, ASC, FINTRAC, and CSA members. You will own STC's profit and loss, working with the Chief Financial Officer on financial planning, fee structures, and pricing.

Responsibilities

  • Personally originate and close institutional custody mandates with Canadian family offices, crypto-native funds, pension funds, and broker-dealers
  • Develop and lead a high-functioning sales team
  • Own and execute STC's pipeline development, RFP responses, and pitch leadership
  • Serve as the senior relationship owner for key client accounts
  • Represent STC at industry conferences, regulatory roundtables, and client events
  • Define STC's competitive positioning and value proposition
  • Direct the development of strategic partnerships with prime brokers, OTC desks, exchanges, and fund administrators
  • Evaluate new service offerings in collaboration with the Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Technology Officer
  • Transition STC from licensed entity to active custodian with live assets
  • Serve as the primary liaison between management and the Board
  • Maintain STC's governance framework in compliance with the Loan and Trust Corporations Act
  • Develop and maintain senior-level relationships with ATBF, ASC, FINTRAC, and CSA members
  • Participate in industry consultations and policy working groups
  • Own STC's profit and loss, working with the Chief Financial Officer on financial planning, fee structures, and pricing
  • Foster a culture of accountability, commercial ambition, and governance best practices

Requirements

  • Five to ten years of progressive experience in business development, institutional sales, or a CEO/general management role
  • Proven success serving family offices, investment funds, and alternative asset managers
  • Demonstrated track record of personally originating and closing institutional mandates with full ownership of a revenue or P&L target
  • Strong familiarity with digital assets and crypto markets
  • Existing network or credibility within Canadian capital allocators or crypto funds highly preferred
  • Experience in regulated financial environments with working familiarity with the LTCA, NI 31-103 qualified custodian requirements, and FINTRAC's AML/ATF obligations
  • Undergraduate degree in finance, business, economics, law, or a related discipline expected
  • MBA, CFA, or equivalent graduate credential a meaningful asset but not a requirement
  • Must meet Alberta Treasury Board and Finance fit-and-proper requirements and satisfy related approvals under the Loan and Trust Corporations Act
