Certification Test Engineer II - HYBRID
Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Certification Engineer II to join the Data Center Power & Control Division in Canonsburg, PA on a hybrid basis. As the Certification Test Engineer II, you are responsible for achieving and maintaining global product certification and regulatory compliance for all Starline products. The role requires technical knowledge of electrical products, expertise in navigating the certification process, and project execution

- Maintain valid certification statuses, including but not limited to UL/ETL Listings, NOM, RETIE, CCC, CE, UKCA, and CB Scheme.
- Plan, develop, and execute qualification, certification, reliability, thermal, environmental, and performance testing programs.
- Support root-cause investigations and validation testing for product changes and field issues.
- Maintain test equipment, test procedures, and laboratory capabilities necessary to support certification and reliability programs.
- Work with Product Managers and Product Design Engineers throughout the new product development process to ensure a path to achieving regulatory compliance in alignment with market requirements.
- Partner with Quality Assurance and Product Managers to define a threshold for product safety and performance beyond what is required by the standards.
- Coordinate logistics for obtaining certifications, including procuring test samples, scheduling test time with internal and external laboratories, third-party witnessing, and collection of documentation.
- Support all aspects of external testing and evaluations from RFQ to final report.
- Ensure product designs are documented within certification files and provide guidance to the Sustaining Engineering team regarding design changes.
- Manage internal communication related to product certifications.
- Travel up to 15% to external test labs to support the certification program, as necessary, mostly domestic.
- Perform additional duties as deemed necessary to support the organization's overall goals.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in a professional setting.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Familiarity with low-voltage power distribution equipment.
- Previous experience working with NRTLs and certification bodies.
- Exceptional organizational, time management, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Personal Qualities/Behaviors:
- The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to manufacturing areas that, in certain situations, require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection.
- Regularly required to communicate with others.
- Able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
