No prior CMA certification is required! We will provide on-the-job clinical training and support your completion of an approved online medical assistant program to help you obtain your certification. If you are eager to learn, enjoy working with people, and want to make a difference in your community, we encourage you to apply!

What You'll Do

As a Medical Assistant Apprentice, you will learn to support providers and deliver quality, patient-centered care while developing the knowledge and skills needed for a successful career in healthcare.

  • Welcome patients and help prepare them for provider visits in a professional, friendly, and compassionate manner.

  • Learn to room patients and accurately collect and document information, including chief complaints, allergies, vital signs, pain assessments, and weight.

  • Assist providers and clinical team members with patient visits and routine clinical procedures as training and competency allow.

  • Learn to communicate patient concerns, needs, and changes in condition to the appropriate clinical team members.

  • Support patient education by helping distribute educational materials and reinforce instructions provided by the clinical team.

  • Learn proper procedures for laboratory and diagnostic testing, including patient preparation and specimen handling.

  • Develop knowledge of medication administration, treatments, infection prevention, and other clinical responsibilities within the appropriate scope of practice and level of training.

  • Maintain accurate patient records in the electronic health record system while protecting patient confidentiality.

  • Follow established safety protocols, infection control practices, and clinical policies and procedures.

  • Participate in on-the-job training, complete assigned coursework through an approved online medical assistant program, and work toward obtaining CMA certification.

  • Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary team members to promote coordinated, high-quality patient care.

  • Demonstrate Infinity Health's mission, values, and standards of behavior in daily interactions with patients and coworkers.

Qualifications

  • No current CMA certification or prior medical assistant experience required.

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in healthcare and obtaining Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification.

  • Willingness and ability to complete an approved online medical assistant training program while gaining hands-on clinical experience.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.

  • Compassionate, professional, and patient-centered approach to working with others.

  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn electronic health record systems.

  • Ability to follow instructions, maintain patient confidentiality, and work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.

  • Reliable, self-motivated, and committed to completing training and meeting program requirements.

  • Previous customer service, healthcare, or other patient-facing experience is a plus, but not required.
