Certified Nurse Aide/Phlebotomist

Certified Nurse Aide Duties:

1. Taking patient vital signs correctly

2. Checking in patients and appropriately documenting in medical records

3. Being able to perform a dipstick urinalysis and finger stick blood sugar

4. Perform CLIA proficiency for dipstick urinalysis and finger stick blood sugar

Phlebotomist Duties:

1. Perform venipuncture and/or capillary stick, observing strict principles of asepsis and antisepsis to prevent infection of patient and contamination of specimens.

2. Centrifuges specimens in a safe manner.

3. Prepares specimens for safe transport to outside laboratories including labeling and paperwork and follows OSHA guidelines for bio-hazardous materials.

4. Understands and is able to perform procedures in his/her area of responsibility and assumes responsibility and accountability for accurate results and maintain records of all procedures performed in our Lab.

5. Performs quality control and instrument checks as required.

6. Provides adequate and correct information for proper billing.

7. Monitors supply levels and notifies supervisor of needs in a timely manner.

8. Maintains good relationship with patients and other medical staff.

9. Observes universal precaution and bio-hazard materials guidelines.
