Kernodle Clinic, a progressive and well-respected multi-specialty group practice with locations in Burlington, Mebane, and Elon, is seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) to join our busy OB/GYN department. This full-time position includes up to four days in the office and 6–9 call shifts (24-hour) per month. While OB/GYN experience is preferred, we welcome new graduates eager to grow within a supportive team.
- CNM’s provide initial and ongoing comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and treatment, perform physical exams, and prescribe controlled and prescription medications.
- Rotate assigned call at the hospital performing post-partum rounds in the morning, doing birthplace assessments, and admitting and discharging patients as appropriate.
- Administer and prescribes medication in compliance to the DEA and the Board of Nursing for Advanced Practice Nurses, Category 2-7 drugs by the North Carolina Board of Medicine.
- Provides patient health education; addresses questions or concerns regarding medications, disease process, and anticipated outcomes.
- Complies with OSHA, Infection Control, and Safety policies including personal protective equipment, handling of infectious wastes, and properly responding to fire drills and / or emergencies; CNM is aware of the goals for JCAHO and adheres to the expected standards.
- Consults with MD as necessary regarding patients issues and plans of care.
- Order and schedule laboratory tests and diagnostic tests with the follow-up of the results; CNM will follow-through on all tests that are abnormal.
