CFO Services Senior Manager | Outsourced Accounting
Brixey & Meyer | Full-Time
Are you an experienced accounting leader who enjoys developing people, improving processes, and helping clients build stronger accounting functions?
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with a strong accounting and controllership background who enjoys coaching others, solving problems, and creating better ways of working.
You’ll lead client engagements, oversee the quality of our team's work, and play an important role in developing our people. We’re looking for someone who can operate at a controller level while still understanding the details behind the work and stepping in when needed.
What You’ll Do
Lead Client Accounting
- Lead outsourced accounting engagements and ensure accurate, timely, high-quality deliverables.
- Serve as a trusted resource to clients and team members on accounting and financial matters.
- Review financial reporting, month-end close, reconciliations, general ledger activity, and other core accounting functions.
- Identify accounting, process, and control issues and develop practical solutions.
- Create consistent, scalable processes that improve efficiency and quality.
- Strengthen client relationships and identify opportunities to provide additional value as client needs evolve.
Develop & Lead the Team
- Coach and develop Staff, Seniors, and Managers as they build technical skills and take on greater responsibility.
- Review work and provide clear, practical feedback.
- Identify technical or process gaps and help develop training and resources to address them.
- Delegate work effectively, monitor team capacity, and align responsibilities with experience, development opportunities, and client needs.
- Foster a collaborative environment built around accountability, learning, and continuous improvement.
Grow & Manage the Team’s Business
- Think like a business owner, taking responsibility for building a sustainable client portfolio and balancing growth, team capacity, quality, and profitability.
- Partner with Firm leadership on business development, with increasing ownership over time for building relationships, developing opportunities, and winning new client engagements.
- Build relationships with prospective clients and referral sources, understand their accounting needs, and help develop proposals that clearly define scope, fees, and the value our team provides.
- Identify opportunities to expand services for existing clients and connect them with other Firm resources when appropriate.
- Plan how new work will be staffed and delivered, aligning client commitments with the team's skills and capacity.
- Monitor engagement budgets, scope, and profitability, and work with Firm leadership to address scope changes and pricing needs.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is equal parts accounting leader, problem solver, and people developer.
You’ll thrive in this role if you:
- Bring a strong accounting and controllership foundation with a deep understanding of the full accounting cycle.
- Can move comfortably between controller-level oversight and the details behind the numbers.
- Enjoy teaching, coaching, and developing accounting professionals.
- Are comfortable reviewing work across multiple levels and stepping in when needed.
- Can identify inefficiencies and create practical, repeatable processes.
- Take ownership of client and team needs, proactively identify risks, and bring solutions before issues impact the client or team.
Why This Opportunity Is Different
This is an opportunity to develop people while helping build better accounting functions.
You’ll have the opportunity to shape how work gets done, develop the people delivering it, and improve processes for both our team and our clients.
If you enjoy staying close enough to the work to understand the details while using your experience to develop others and see the bigger picture, this could be a great next step.
