Change Manager
Description
We’re recruiting two Change Managers within Business Readiness & Service Delivery, both working to the same role specification. You’ll play a pivotal role in delivering effective, safe and customer-focused change across Business Banking. Reporting to a Senior Change Manager within the Business Readiness, Change Management and User Testing pillar, you’ll turn change requirements into practical plans that prepare our people, processes and services for implementation.
You’ll manage impact assessments, stakeholder engagement, knowledge, training and communications readiness, alongside user testing, acceptance and sign-off. Working closely with business teams, project and programme colleagues and control functions, you’ll ensure that change is understood, tested and embedded in line with Nationwide’s change principles, with clear evidence of readiness and appropriate risk mitigation.
This role requires strong planning, influence and the ability to navigate competing stakeholder priorities. You’ll balance pace with control, making readiness gaps visible and helping deliver change that protects service continuity and improves customer and colleague experience.
We support small and medium businesses and larger enterprises to build livelihoods, create jobs and power local economies. We are ambitious, we want to grow and scale our business, and we are investing in our Business Banking teams to get ready for growth and ready to deliver more ‘simply brilliant experiences’.
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job you'll be located at our nearest regional office or hub. There will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration and in some locations you’ll be expected to spend at least two days a week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, in the office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works.
We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.
Virgin Money is now part of Nationwide
Nationwide acquired Virgin Money in October 2024. Virgin Money continues to serve customers on the high street, and there will be a phased and considered integration over the coming years.
You’ll be employed by Nationwide from day one, delivering real impact and benefitting from a highly competitive range of benefits. We’re a workplace where you’re rewarded, recognised and celebrated.
Nationwide is committed to the redeployment of our employees impacted by change, as such applications for redeployment candidates will be prioritised in this recruitment process.
If you’re a colleague on long-term absence (for example, on parental leave) or a temporary worker, please use your personal email address to submit an application.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll manage the day-to-day delivery of business readiness, change management and user testing for your allocated initiatives. You’ll assess customer, colleague, process and service impacts; agree priorities and dependencies with stakeholders; and maintain integrated readiness plans with clear owners, milestones and acceptance criteria. Your remit will include Business Readiness Gateway submissions, evidence, stakeholder reviews and follow-up actions, alongside coordination of recruitment readiness dependencies and milestones for the NBS launch. You’ll coordinate knowledge updates, training and communications so colleagues understand what is changing and are equipped to support customers.
You’ll coordinate user acceptance testing, bringing together business scenarios, testers, results and defect resolution, and prepare evidence for acceptance and sign-off by the appropriate accountable owners. You’ll track readiness gaps, risks and issues, escalating where implementation could compromise customer outcomes, controls or service continuity. Following launch, you’ll monitor adoption and emerging issues and coordinate handover into business as usual. You’ll use data, insight and modern tooling to provide clear reporting and improve how change is delivered and embedded.
About you
As a minimum requirement, you’ll:
Proven track record of delivering projects within a retail/business change environment, or experience of end-to-end change management

Demonstrable experience using data-led insights to identify opportunities and successfully deliver business change
Professional qualification in Change Management, Project Management, or Continuous Improvement methodologies (e.g. Lean Six Sigma, Agile, PRINCE2)
Excellent organisational, planning and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver change in a fast-paced environment
Strong stakeholder management, influencing and collaboration skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships at all levels across the business
Experience leading or matrix-managing individuals and teams to achieve successful outcomes.
