JOB DESCRIPTION:

Olympic Medical Center is committed to the overall wellbeing of our caregivers: physical, emotional, financial, social, and spiritual. The role of the chaplain is to offer spiritual and emotional support to hospital patients, families, and staff including crisis intervention when needed. The hospital chaplain also serves as an active member of the interdisciplinary care-team. Duties may include, but are not limited to: providing continuing education opportunities for staff, serving on institutional committees as appointed, participating as a team member in the delivery of palliative care, and serving as a liaison to the wider community, including civic and faith leader The role of the chaplain will be focused on providing our nursing staff and other healthcare professionals with peer support guided by trauma-informed care principles. This position plays a vital role in fostering a culture of equity, diversity, and compassion within the hospital environment to enhance communication and understanding between our care team, our patients, and the community. The person who fills this role must be adaptable, flexible, and approachable, meeting people where they are and appreciating the diverse perspectives, lived experiences, and needs of each individual.

EDUCATION

  • Completed a Master of Divinity degree, Master of Arts in Religion, or Master of Pastoral Counseling from an accredited school of theology, resulting in ordination, required.
  • Education/training including Clinical Pastoral Education, required.

EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience serving as a Chaplain in an acute-care hospital or clinical setting, preferred.
  • Prior experience in the development and delivery of educational programs for staff, preferred.

LICENSURE/CREDENTIALS

  • Ordination from an accredited school of theology, required.
  • Licensed by a recognized denominational body, required.
