A chartering consultant sources and negotiates shipping contracts for dry bulk or tanker vessels, builds client relationships, and tracks freight markets.
Job Description
- Develop and maintain relationships with shipowners, charterers, and brokers.
- Source and negotiate chartering opportunities for dry bulk and/or tanker vessels.
- Conduct freight market research and provide market intelligence to clients.
- Negotiate charter party terms and conclude fixture negotiations.
- Coordinate with operations to ensure smooth execution of fixtures.
- Prepare fixture recap, contracts, and related documentation.
- Monitor vessel positions and market developments.
- Identify new business opportunities and expand the company's client network.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in shipbroking or chartering.
- Good knowledge of the dry bulk/tanker shipping market.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Good commercial awareness and relationship management skills.
- Proficient in English.
