Checkout Team Member - The Warehouse, Feilding (Part-time)

Hours of work are:

• Thursday 4:00pm - 8:00pm
• Saturday 4:00pm - 8:00pm

The Warehouse in Feilding, New Zealand, is seeking a friendly and efficient Checkout Team Member to join our retail family. As a crucial part of our front-line team, you'll be responsible for ensuring a positive shopping experience for our valued customers.

• Operate the checkout counter efficiently, processing customer transactions accurately and promptly
• Provide exceptional customer service, greeting customers with a warm smile and assisting with enquiries
• Handle cash, credit card payments, and other forms of tender with precision
• Maintain a clean and tidy checkout area
• Assist with bagging items and ensuring customers' purchases are properly packaged
• Stay informed about current promotions, store policies, and product information to address customer questions
• Collaborate with team members to maintain a smooth flow of customers through the checkout area
• Perform end-of-day reconciliation of cash registers and prepare cash deposits
• Assist with additional tasks as required, such as returns processing or stock replenishment

• Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanour
• Strong communication abilities, both verbal and written
• Proficiency in operating Point of Sale (POS) systems and cash registers
• Solid mathematical skills for handling cash and processing transactions accurately
• Keen attention to detail to ensure error-free work
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment
• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift items of varying weights
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Previous experience in retail or customer service is desirable but not essential
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow within the organisation
