Job Description
Position: Chef
Prepare and cook food according to the restaurant's menu, recipes and quality standards.
Plan and organise daily food preparation to ensure timely and efficient kitchen operations.
Prepare ingredients, including washing, cutting, marinating, seasoning and portioning food items.
Ensure food quality, taste, presentation and portion sizes meet the company's standards.
Monitor food freshness, storage conditions and stock rotation to minimise food wastage.
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, food preparation areas and cooking equipment.
Ensure proper food handling, storage and cooking temperatures in accordance with food safety requirements.
Monitor kitchen supplies and inform management when ingredients or other supplies need replenishment.
Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth workflow and timely preparation of food orders.
Assist in developing new dishes, improving recipes and maintaining consistency in food preparation.
Ensure kitchen equipment is used properly and report any equipment faults or maintenance needs.
Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned by management.
Job Requirements
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in cooking or kitchen operations.
Knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods and kitchen operations.
Familiarity with food hygiene, sanitation and food safety practices.
Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistent food quality and presentation.
Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
Good teamwork, time management and organisational skills.
Responsible, hardworking and able to work independently when required.
Willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays as required.
