Job Description & Requirements – Chemist / Treatment Plant Operator

We are looking for a responsible and detail-oriented Chemist / Treatment Plant Operator to assist in the testing, handling, categorisation, and treatment of chemical waste and wastewater at our treatment plant.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify, differentiate, and categorise different types of chemicals and waste streams.

• Conduct sample testing and analyse test results accurately.

• Maintain proper and detailed records of testing, treatment, and plant operations on a timely basis.

• Assess chemical and waste characteristics to determine suitable handling and treatment methods.

• Propose appropriate treatment solutions based on the type and condition of waste received.

• Assist in the daily operation and monitoring of the treatment plant.

• Ensure that treatment processes are carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures.

• Support compliance with relevant regulatory, environmental, and safety requirements.

• Assist with administrative, reporting, supervisory, and managerial duties as required.

• Perform any other related duties assigned by the company.

Requirements:

• Familiar with different types of chemicals, chemical waste, and wastewater treatment processes.

• Able to conduct basic laboratory testing and interpret test results.

• Responsible, organised, and able to maintain accurate records.

• Able to work independently and make sound recommendations for treatment methods.

• Willing to be involved in both laboratory work and treatment plant operations.

• Prior experience in chemical waste treatment, wastewater treatment, or environmental services will be an advantage.
