Chief Business Officer
Description
Chief Business Officer (CBO)
Derrycourt Cleaning Specialists – Ireland
Senior Executive Appointment
Shape the Future of a Leading Irish Services Business
Derrycourt Cleaning Specialists is one of Ireland’s leading contract cleaning and integrated facilities services providers, employing over 2,000 people nationwide and servicing a diverse portfolio across healthcare, commercial, education, industrial, and public sectors.
As we enter a pivotal phase of growth and leadership transition, we are seeking to appoint a Chief Business Officer (CBO)—a newly created, high-impact executive role that will take full ownership of the day-to-day running of the business.
This is a rare opportunity to play a central leadership role in a well-established, family-owned organisation as it evolves into a more structured, performance-driven and scalable business.
The Role
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief Business Officer will act as the principal execution partner, with full accountability for:
- End-to-end operational delivery
- Commercial performance and growth outcomes
- P&L ownership and margin performance
- Mobilisation of new contracts and major changes
- Cross-functional alignment across operations, commercial, corporate services, and compliance
This role is not a traditional COO position. It integrates operations, commercial delivery, and execution discipline into a single leadership mandate, ensuring a consistent, high-performing operating model across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Business & Financial Performance
- Own and drive full P&L performance, including productivity, labour cost control, and profitability
- Translate strategy into clear, executable business plans
- Establish robust performance reporting, forecasting, and accountability rhythms
Operations & Service Delivery
- Lead delivery across all contracts, with a strong emphasis on healthcare
- Ensure consistent service quality, staffing stability, and SLA compliance
- Act as senior escalation point for major operational or client issues
Commercial & Growth
- Lead the commercial engine, including pipeline strategy, bid governance, and pricing discipline
- Ensure focus on profitable, sustainable growth—not just volume
- Drive mobilisation readiness and early-stage contract success
Mobilisation & Change
- Oversee programme management and mobilisation capability
- Ensure all new contracts are delivered safely, compliantly, and profitably
- Embed continuous improvement and learning loops
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Strengthen operational governance, particularly in healthcare environments
- Embed risk management and assurance frameworks across the business
- Ensure compliance is active and embedded—not reactive
Leadership & Organisation
- Lead and develop a high-performing senior leadership team
- Drive a culture of accountability, consistency, and performance
- Support organisational design to enable future growth and scalability
About You

- Proven ownership of both operations and commercial outcomes
- Full P&L responsibility at scale
- Experience within regulated or compliance-heavy sectors (healthcare highly advantageous)
- Leadership of large, distributed teams (1,000+ employees)
Key Capabilities
- Strong commercial judgement and understanding of margin drivers
- Operational discipline with the ability to scale consistently
- Ability to integrate multiple functions into a unified performance model
- Credible and confident leadership presence
- Decisive and accountable under pressure
Personal Style
- High integrity and values-driven
- Direct, clear, and accountable leadership style
- Resilient, energetic, and comfortable in a dynamic, evolving organisation
