Job Summary
You will manage the engineering department to ensure the safe, efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of the vessel’s propulsion unit, cargo handling equipment, machinery, and electrical systems. You will oversee maintenance schedules, records, and compliance to support vessel seaworthiness.
Responsibilities
- Manage the engineering department to ensure safe and efficient operation of propulsion units, cargo handling equipment, machinery, and electrical systems onboard the vessel
- Implement and monitor the vessel’s Planned Maintenance System (PMS) to ensure maintenance activities comply with Company guidelines
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date engineering records and provide regular reports to the Office
- Oversee cleanliness and maintenance of all machinery, machinery spaces, and compartments used for storing tools, spare gear, engine stores, fuel, thermal boiler, and lubricating oil
- Ensure proper upkeep and accurate recording in the Oil Record Book Part I according to SPM procedures
- Communicate promptly with the Master regarding machinery or equipment issues and their impact on the vessel’s seaworthiness
