Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Commercial Construction Operations
Location: Tempe, AZ | In-Office
Schedule: Monday - Friday | 8 am – 5 pm
We're seeking an accounting and financial leader who has built their career within commercial construction and has experience leading the accounting and finance function for a commercial construction contractor. This is not a traditional corporate CFO position.
To be considered, candidates should have direct leadership experience working for a commercial general contractor or specialty subcontractor, with responsibility for:
- Contract accounting
- Job costing and Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting
- Progress billings, retainage, and change orders
- AIA billing and subcontractor management
- Cash flow management for project-based construction operations
- Leading the accounting function while partnering closely with project managers, operations leadership, and ownership
Candidates without significant accounting leadership inside a commercial construction company are unlikely to be a fit for this role.
This opportunity may be a great fit if you are currently:
- A Controller leading the accounting function for a commercial construction contractor and ready to step into your first CFO role.
- A Director or VP of Finance with hands-on responsibility for construction accounting, job costing, WIP reporting, and financial operations.
- A Chief Financial Officer who enjoys remaining engaged in the day-to-day operations of the business while partnering closely with ownership and operational leaders.
About the Opportunity

While transactional accounting and administrative functions are supported through a centralized shared services team, the CFO will serve as the senior financial leader for the Arizona region. Working closely with ownership and operations leadership, you'll oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, cash flow, forecasting, banking relationships, job costing, and the financial systems that support continued growth.
This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys solving operational challenges, strengthening financial processes, mentoring accounting teams, and helping commercial construction businesses improve profitability and operational performance.
