Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) based in United States.
This executive role offers the opportunity to lead the financial strategy of an innovative, late-stage life sciences organization.
The CFO will oversee finance, accounting, treasury, investor relations, and capital management while helping prepare the business for commercialization.
You will shape financing strategies, lead fundraising efforts, and support major transactions including M&A, licensing, and strategic partnerships.
Working closely with the CEO, executive leadership, and Board, you will provide financial insight that directly influences corporate strategy and growth.
The role combines strategic leadership with selective hands-on execution in a lean, highly collaborative environment.
You will also build scalable financial systems, processes, and teams capable of supporting continued clinical development and future commercial expansion.

Accountabilities:
- Lead all financial, accounting, treasury, and investor-relations activities, maintaining strong financial discipline, transparency, and operational rigor.
- Develop and execute financing and capitalization strategies aligned with clinical development, growth, and commercialization objectives, partnering closely with the CEO on fundraising and capital formation.
- Oversee financial planning, reporting, tax compliance, internal controls, audit preparation, and other regulatory requirements.
- Build scalable financial operations, systems, processes, and teams capable of supporting pharmaceutical R&D, clinical programs, and future commercial activities.
- Manage cash forecasting, working capital, cost optimization, annual corporate and departmental budgeting, and long-range financial planning.
- Oversee equity administration, including stock-option accounting and reporting, and coordinate insurance coverage to support effective risk management.
- Establish and manage a consistent cadence of investor and Board communications while identifying and engaging prospective investors.
- Lead and support strategic transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, licensing arrangements, strategic partnerships, and other corporate development opportunities.
- Partner with business development to assess the financial and strategic potential of revenue-generating opportunities and support transaction execution.
- Provide financial leadership across cross-functional growth initiatives and collaborate with senior leadership and the Board on corporate strategy.
- Partner with Legal, Compliance, People, and other functions on financial, regulatory, governance, and organizational matters.
- Strengthen financial processes and organizational readiness as the business progresses toward commercialization and increasingly sophisticated stakeholder requirements.
- 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience within life sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or related organizations, including experience in clinical-stage companies.
- Deep expertise in life sciences corporate finance, financial strategy, planning, capital management, and investor relations.
- Demonstrated success raising capital across private and public markets and developing financing strategies for high-growth organizations.
- Proven experience leading or supporting complex transactions, including M&A, licensing, IPOs, strategic partnerships, and exits.
- Advanced knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, audit processes, and corporate governance.
- Experience building scalable finance organizations, systems, processes, and controls in lean or rapidly growing environments.
- Experience supporting organizations through late-stage clinical development and, ideally, the transition toward early commercialization.
- Familiarity with venture-backed biotech financing structures, including non-dilutive funding mechanisms and grants.
- Experience working with investment banks, financial analysts, strategic partners, and other external stakeholders across the biopharma or MedTech ecosystem.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare organizations for public-company-level financial, reporting, governance, and control requirements.
- Strong strategic thinking, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities, with the ability to translate complex financial information into actionable business insights.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with the credibility to engage effectively with executives, Board members, investors, employees, and external partners.
- High ethical standards, sound judgment, professionalism, discretion, and the ability to manage sensitive financial and corporate information.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related discipline required; an MBA, CPA, or equivalent advanced credential is preferred.
- Existing relationships within the orthopedic, biopharma, MedTech, investment, or strategic-partner ecosystem are advantageous.
