TabaBank is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to lead the Bank’s financial strategy, planning, treasury, capital, liquidity, accounting, regulatory reporting, pricing, and Payments & Settlement Operations.

The CFO will be a key member of the Bank’s executive leadership team and will play a critical role in building and scaling the financial infrastructure of a payments-focused national bank. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in bank finance, treasury, capital, liquidity, and accounting, combined with practical experience in payments, merchant acquiring, settlement, and high-volume money movement.

This is not a traditional community-bank CFO role. The successful candidate will understand the unique financial, liquidity, settlement, operational, and counterparty risks created by significant payment volumes.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Performance

  • Lead the Bank’s financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and performance management.
  • Own pricing strategy, product and client economics, profitability analysis, and financial modeling.
  • Evaluate new products, partnerships, investments, and strategic initiatives from financial, capital, liquidity, and risk-return perspectives.
  • Establish financial KPIs and provide actionable insights to executive leadership and the Board.
  • Support strategic planning, corporate development, and M&A activities as appropriate.

Treasury, Capital & Liquidity

  • Lead capital planning, treasury, liquidity, balance-sheet management, and First Line financial risk management.
  • Oversee capital adequacy, liquidity forecasting and stress testing, funding strategy, investments, deposits, and banking relationships.
  • Ensure sufficient intraday, overnight, weekend, and contingent liquidity to support payment and settlement obligations.
  • Establish appropriate financial risk limits, controls, monitoring, and escalation mechanisms in partnership with the Chief Risk Officer.

Payments & Settlement Operations

  • Own the Bank’s Payments & Settlement Operations function, including merchant and Payment Facilitator settlement, card-network settlement, ACH, Fedwire, FedNow, RTP, clearing accounts, prefunding, FBO structures, and merchant reserves.
  • Ensure effective reconciliation, controls, exception management, escalation, and operational resilience across payment and settlement activities.
  • Build scalable processes and infrastructure to support significant transaction-volume growth.
  • Partner with Product, Technology, Risk, Compliance, and TabaPay to ensure new and existing payment products are supported by appropriate settlement, accounting, liquidity, and risk processes.

Accounting & Regulatory Reporting

  • Oversee accounting, controllership, financial reporting, tax, and financial controls.
  • Ensure accurate and timely GAAP financial statements and applicable regulatory reporting, including Call Reports and other OCC, FDIC, and Federal Reserve reporting.
  • Maintain effective reconciliation and internal control environments across banking, payment, settlement, and deposit activities.
  • Oversee accounting policies and reporting related to payment activity, deposits, reserves, interchange, network fees, settlement obligations, and other bank operations.

Board & Regulatory Engagement

  • Serve as the senior financial-management contact with the OCC and other applicable regulators.
  • Lead Finance, Treasury, Capital, Liquidity, and Payments & Settlement Operations engagement during regulatory examinations.
  • Present financial, capital, liquidity, and performance information to the Board and relevant committees.
  • Oversee remediation of regulatory, audit, and control findings within areas of CFO accountability.
  • Manage financial interactions with the Bank’s parent company.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including significant banking or regulated financial services experience.
  • Deep expertise in bank finance, treasury, capital, liquidity, accounting, financial planning, and regulatory reporting.
  • Experience leading or providing senior oversight of high-volume payments, settlement, reconciliation, or treasury operations.
  • Strong understanding of bank balance sheets, regulatory capital, liquidity and intraday liquidity, ALM, interest-rate risk, payments and settlement, GAAP, and financial controls.
  • Experience interacting with banking regulators and supporting regulatory examinations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively engage executive leadership, Boards, regulators, and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience building, scaling, or transforming Finance, Treasury, or Payments Operations functions.

Payments Experience

Strong preference for candidates with experience in several of the following:

  • Merchant acquiring and card processing
  • Visa/Mastercard settlement
  • Payment Facilitator sponsorship
  • Merchant settlement and reconciliation
  • Interchange and network fees
  • ACH, Fedwire, FedNow, and/or RTP
  • FBO and prefunding structures
  • Intraday liquidity management
  • Payments-focused fintechs, sponsor banks, or embedded finance

Experience managing the intersection of bank treasury/liquidity and high-volume payment settlement is particularly important.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA and/or MBA
  • Prior CFO, Deputy CFO, Treasurer, Controller, or senior finance leadership experience at a bank
  • Experience with a national bank or federally regulated financial institution
  • Experience working with the OCC
  • Experience in a newly formed, rapidly growing, or transformational banking environment
  • Experience integrating banking operations with a fintech or payments organization
  • Familiarity with banking, financial reporting, treasury, and payment operations technology platforms

Leadership Profile

The successful candidate will be a hands-on, strategic financial leader who can build and operate the function while navigating the complexity of a payments-focused bank. They will bring strong commercial and pricing judgment, deep knowledge of capital and liquidity management, and the ability to translate payment volumes and flows into implications for liquidity, capital, settlement exposure, accounting, risk, and profitability.

They will be comfortable working directly with regulators and the Board, challenging assumptions constructively, partnering across the organization, and building scalable processes and high-performing teams.

The pay range for this position is $250,000; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.

Benefits

  • 100% employer-paid health care insurance including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance (for employee only)
  • Employer 401K Matching
  • Generous and Flexible PTO
