Physician Affiliate Group of New York, (PAGNY), has an opportunity for a Chief of Emergency Medicine at NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem. Harlem Hospital is the largest hospital in Central Harlem and the only Safety Net Hospital in Northern Manhattan. It is a 268-bed hospital that provides a broad array of preventive, primary, and acute care services including General Medicine and Medical subspecialties, General Surgery and Surgical subspecialties, Infectious Disease, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics and Neonatology, Critical Care, Imaging, Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, Rehabilitation Medicine, Psychiatry and substance abuse services, Dental and Oral Surgery, and physical, speech, and occupational therapies. Opportunity Details:

  • Manage administrative responsibilities such as effective integration and coordination of the clinical services Department, scheduling and conducting clinical staff meetings, and orienting and mentoring all new Physicians and Advanced Practice Clinicians.
  • Ensure clinical staff is continually trained and supervised and that activities of the medical staff are coordinated with other operating units of the organization.
  • Responsible for setting provider schedules including “call” schedule, ensures distribution of new and revised schedules in a timely fashion to all providers, intake/eligibility supervisors, and Administration.
  • Supervise all providers, including performing new hire orientations, conducting peer review process, corrective action counseling, terminations, and approving all requests for leaves of absence, training, special requests, and annual evaluations.
  • Assumes clinical responsibility in conjunction with the team.
  • Fosters an environment that promotes Quality Assurance & Improvement Programs.
  • Adhering to the department's affiliation budget.
  • Monitoring and improving provider productivity, documentation, and billing.
  • Monitoring and maintaining ED throughput metrics and patient satisfaction scores.
  • Combined Emergency Medicine residency with NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan.
