Chief of Staff

About the Position: This position is located at DoWEA Headquarters in Alexandria, VA. This position may be eligible for situational telework as determined by the agency policy. The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) is transitioning to the Department of War Education Activity (DoWEA). **Excepted Service Position - Schedule Policy/Career Position**

Exercise final authority for the full range of personnel actions recommended by subordinate supervisors.

Develop speeches and presentations, representing the Director's views.

Represent the Director in face-to-face and telephonic meetings and discussions with headquarters and field staff members.

Plan, control the agenda for, and administer the cabinet meetings of key staff managers, and other special, conferences, and/or seminars.

Meet with high ranking management officials, including the Assistant Secretary of Defense, Congressional liaison, and news media representatives.

Serve as the Director's principal liaison with non-DoWEA officials and functionaries, to include senior DoW political leaders, and Congress and staff.
