Hispasat, as part of the SpaceRISE consortium, is responsible for the technical implementation and ensuring the success of the IRIS² project, leveraging its extensive experience in satellite communications. This collaboration is essential to provide secure and reliable high-performance communication solutions to the European Union and its member states.

To support the continued growth and strategic execution of this ambitious programme, we are looking for a Chief of Staff to serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the Director of the IRIS² Program. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the centre of a major European space initiative, driving alignment across stakeholders, supporting executive decision-making, and ensuring effective execution of strategic priorities.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Director in defining, communicating, and executing the strategic objectives of the IRIS² Program.
  • Act as a strategic advisor on business, programmatic, technological, and institutional matters.
  • Prepare executive analyses, recommendations, and decision-support materials for senior leadership.
  • Anticipate risks, opportunities, and organizational challenges, proposing mitigation and improvement actions.
  • Ensure alignment between strategic priorities and operational execution across the programme.
  • Support governance processes and monitor progress against programme objectives, schedules, budgets, milestones, and KPIs.
  • Coordinate executive reviews, steering committees, governance boards, and follow-up actions.
  • Facilitate the resolution and escalation of critical programme issues.
  • Coordinate activities across engineering, satellite systems, ground segment, operations, business development, institutional affairs, procurement, legal, and finance teams.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives and working groups to ensure successful delivery of strategic projects.
  • Support engagement with institutional stakeholders, including European and national space agencies, governmental organisations, and industry partners.
  • Prepare briefing materials, executive presentations, strategic communications, speeches, and position papers.
  • Represent the Director in meetings, workshops, and external forums when delegated.
  • Drive high-priority strategic initiatives, transformation projects, innovation activities, and organisational improvement programmes.
  • Support market assessments, competitive analyses, benchmarking activities, and business strategy development related to IRIS².

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree in Economics, Business Administration, International Relations, Public Policy, or a related discipline. Alternatively, an Engineering degree complemented by an MBA will be considered.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience, including at least 2 years in a Chief of Staff, Strategic Planning, Business Operations, Programme Management, or similar leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of the European space ecosystem and its institutional stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the IRIS² programme environment and key stakeholders will be considered a strong asset.
  • Proven ability to translate corporate strategy into actionable initiatives and measurable outcomes.
  • Experience working with governance frameworks, performance monitoring, executive reporting, and decision-making processes.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across complex organisations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including experience developing business cases and strategic assessments.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing executive-level presentations and briefing materials.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, accountability, and resilience in demanding environments.

Languages:

  • Fluent English (C1 level minimum).
  • Fluent French (C1 level minimum).
  • Knowledge of Spanish is considered an asset.

  • Madrid, Spain.
