The position:
The position is a full-time employment, and you will be working in a 1:1 roster (four weeks on: four weeks off), as one of 3-5 crew members. Our vessels operate all over Denmark but with occasional trips to Sweden or where assistance is needed.
Who are we?
Svitzer operates globally with a fleet of more than 450 vessels, stretching over 4 regions and 36 countries. In Svitzer Scandinavia we have 30 vessels, servicing all of Denmark, Bremerhaven in Germany and the Swedish East and West Coast, from Nynäshamn to Brofjorden. We have 80 crew on our Faroe Island flagged vessels, operated by Swedish crew and 160 crew on our DIS flagged vessels. We pride ourselves in our ability to service our customers locally with the safety of our crew being our top priority.

Your responsibilities:
As a Chief Officer in Svitzer you are responsible for the following:
- Lead onboard operations and represent the company with professionalism and expertise.
- Carrying out safe operations to assisted ships in responsible and timely manner.
- Taking personal responsibility for ensuring a culture of safety is always observed onboard, and that existing tools to achieve same are utilized by all persons on board.
- Ensuring proper administration of all ship management activities on the vessel, including timely safety and operational reporting, keeping of appropriate records etc.
- Liaising closely with land-based Managers, Harbour Pilots, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth planning and communication of all towage operations.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for maritime professionals who can resonate with the following:
- Eager and willing to learn new skills (internal Trainee Master development path)
- A couple of years’ experience in vessel maneuvering and various responsibilities within bridge management.
- Proactive and takes initiative in their daily tasks
- Thrives in social settings with small crews
- Hands on experience in vessel maintenance
- Practices a positive attitude in the workplace and good seamanship
- Thrives in a dynamic operation and who has a flexible approach to daily tasks
Required qualifications:
- Education minimum master Restricted /Mate III Class
- Valid STCW certificates (Basic Training, Survival Crafts, Advanced Firefighting, GOC, Medical Care, DSD, SSO, Medical Certificate
- Strong communication skills in both Danish and English
- Strong administrative skills
