As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dynamic and results-driven executive to join our leadership team as Chief Operating Officer (COO).
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a key member of AlffCo's executive leadership team and is responsible for leading the company's enterprise-wide operational strategy and execution. The COO translates the CEO's strategic vision into measurable business objectives, operating plans, and organizational priorities while ensuring consistent execution across business units, service lines, and geographic markets.
The COO is accountable for driving sustainable growth, operational excellence, profitability, scalability, customer satisfaction, and risk management across the organization. This executive will establish performance expectations, develop high-impact operational strategies, strengthen organizational capabilities, and ensure that AlffCo has the people, processes, technology, and resources necessary to achieve its short- and long-term goals.
The COO serves as a strategic partner and reports to the CEO. The COO works closely with the executive leadership team to establish company direction, drive accountability, improve business performance, and position AlffCo for continued growth.
Essential Functions of the Role
Enterprise Operational Leadership
• Provide executive leadership and oversight of AlffCo's day-to-day operations across business units, service lines, and geographic markets.
• Translate corporate strategy into actionable operational plans, priorities, and measurable objectives.
• Establish clear operational expectations, standards, and accountability throughout the organization.
• Ensure consistent execution of company strategy while maintaining flexibility to address market, client, and operational demands.
• Evaluate organizational structure, resources, and capabilities to ensure the company is positioned for continued growth.
Strategic and Financial Leadership
• Partner with the CEO and executive leadership team to develop and execute short- and long-term business strategies.
• Maintain strong financial and operational oversight, including budgeting, forecasting, P&L performance, cash flow considerations, and resource allocation.
• Drive operating profitability, EBITDA performance, margin improvement, productivity, and cost management.
• Translate financial and operational data into actionable strategies that improve business performance.
• Evaluate investments, initiatives, and resource allocation decisions based on their strategic and financial impact.
• Identify opportunities to improve profitability while maintaining service quality and customer satisfaction.
Performance Management and Accountability
• Work with the CEO to establish company-wide operating metrics, KPIs, dashboards, and reporting structures.
• Develop a consistent operating cadence for reviewing financial, operational, customer, workforce, and service-level performance.
• Hold business unit and executive leaders accountable for achieving established goals and performance expectations.
• Identify performance gaps and implement corrective action plans to improve results.
• Establish clear ownership and accountability for strategic and operational initiatives.
Operational Excellence and Process Improvement
• Lead the development and implementation of operational policies, procedures, structures, and best practices.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, service delivery, and profitability across the organization.
• Standardize processes where appropriate while allowing business units and regions to address unique market requirements.
• Utilize data, technology, and operational analytics to identify trends, improve decision-making, and enhance performance.
• Continuously evaluate operational processes to minimize waste, inefficiencies, and unnecessary costs.
Client and Customer Leadership
• Maintain a strong client-centric operating philosophy throughout the organization.
• Develop strategies that improve customer satisfaction, retention, service quality, and long-term client relationships.
• Partner with Sales and Business Development leadership to identify opportunities for organic growth, cross-selling, and expansion within existing and new markets.
• Ensure operational capabilities align with client commitments and contractual requirements.
• Support executive-level relationships with key strategic clients when appropriate.
Organizational Leadership and Talent Development
• Build, develop, coach, and retain a high-performing operational leadership team.
• Establish leadership expectations and promote accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement on the operations team.
• Collaborate with Human Resources to develop succession planning and leadership development strategies for critical roles.
• Identify organizational capability gaps and develop plans to address staffing, structure, and talent requirements.
• Foster a culture focused on performance, professionalism, accountability, safety, customer service, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure the operational organization has the appropriate leadership structure and resources to support continued growth.
Technology and Business Intelligence
• Leverage technology to improve operational efficiency, service delivery, workforce productivity, and decision-making.
• Partner with technology and functional leaders to identify and implement systems that support scalable operations.
• Utilize ERP, CRM, financial, workforce management, project management, and business intelligence systems to monitor and improve performance.
• Promote the use of accurate, timely, and actionable data throughout the organization.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and automation opportunities that may improve service quality, productivity, or profitability.
Risk Management, Compliance, and Safety
• Identify, assess, and mitigate operational, financial, contractual, client, workforce, and reputational risks.
• Ensure operational practices align with applicable laws, regulations, contractual requirements, safety standards, and company policies.
• Partner with executive leadership to strengthen risk management and compliance practices.
• Promote a strong safety culture across all operational functions.
• Ensure appropriate controls and processes are in place to protect company assets, employees, clients, and business operations.
Growth and Scalability
• Lead operational planning and organizational development to support continued company growth.
• Develop scalable processes, systems, structures, and resources capable of supporting expansion.
• Evaluate new markets, service offerings, geographic opportunities, and operational capabilities.
• Ensure operational infrastructure keeps pace with revenue growth and changing business requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve economies of scale and organizational efficiency.
Executive Leadership and CEO Partnership
• Serve as a strategic partner and operational counterpart to the CEO.
• Provide the CEO and executive leadership team with timely insights regarding operational performance, risks, opportunities, and organizational needs.
• Collaborate closely with VPs, department heads, and other executive leaders to ensure enterprise-wide strategic alignment.
• Facilitate cross-functional decision-making and resolution of complex business issues.
• Represent the company professionally with key clients, partners, vendors, and other stakeholders.
• Participate in executive-level planning, budgeting, forecasting, and organizational development.
Adaptability and Resilience
• Demonstrate the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, nationwide service organization with multiple priorities and competing demands.
• Respond effectively to changing market conditions, client requirements, operational challenges, and business opportunities.
• Maintain a high level of executive presence, professionalism, and sound judgment during periods of significant organizational change or growth.
• Travel nationally, up to approximately 30%, to support key clients, regional operations, leadership teams, and organizational initiatives.
