RURAL HEALTHCARE IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART.
Neither is this COO opportunity.
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER | BOTHWELL REGIONAL HEALTH CENTER | SEDALIA, MISSOURI
Bothwell Regional Health Center is searching for an exceptional Chief Operating Officer who wants to do work that matters - where decisions are made locally and the health system's success is directly tied to the communities we serve.
Located in Sedalia in central Missouri, Bothwell Regional Health Center is an independent, community-owned health system licensed for 108 beds, with 21 clinic locations and approximately $175 million in annual net patient revenue. Our growing medical staff includes 71 employed or contracted physicians and 41 advanced practice providers.
Bothwell is home to Missouri's first and only rural family medicine residency program fully accredited by the ACGME - building the workforce that will care for rural communities tomorrow.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This isn't a COO position for someone who wants to manage from an office.
We are looking for a visible, energetic and highly collaborative executive who moves comfortably between strategy and execution, builds strong physician relationships, tackles operational challenges and helps shape the future of an independent health system.
The COO will provide executive leadership and operational oversight for the Clinic Division, hospital-based provider operations, Supply Chain, 340B Program and Pharmacy.
The successful candidate will build strong relationships with physicians and APPs, develop leaders, improve operational and financial performance, pursue responsible growth and strengthen alignment across hospital and ambulatory operations.
We aren't looking for someone who simply keeps the trains running. We want a leader who will help us decide where the trains should go next.

A SIGNIFICANT CAREER OPPORTUNITY

This role provides an outstanding leader with a significant career opportunity, as the CEO will be retiring in less than two years.
We seek someone with the leadership capacity, executive presence and breadth of experience to make an immediate impact as COO and potentially become part of Bothwell's next generation of executive leadership.
This is not a promise of succession. It is an opportunity to demonstrate what you can do.

WHO WILL THRIVE HERE?

  • Someone who believes independence is worth fighting for.
  • Someone who builds physician engagement through relationships, credibility and follow-through.
  • Someone comfortable with both mission and margin.
  • Someone who sees opportunity where others see the limitations of rural health care.
  • Someone who develops people rather than simply directing them.
  • Someone who is willing to be visible, accessible and accountable.
  • Most importantly, someone who wants their leadership to matter to a community.

WHY BOTHWELL?

At Bothwell, our mission says it well:
“Together, we work to provide compassionate and safe care to our family, friends and neighbors, while remaining proudly independent.”
Rural healthcare is not for the faint of heart.
We think that's exactly what makes it worth doing.
