Chief Operating Officer
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced and driven Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead the establishment and management of our new
scrap yard facility. This is a key strategic initiative as we aim to consolidate the local scrap industry and ensure a reliable supply of high-quality ferrous scrap for our electric arc furnaces. The COO will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of operations, from site development and permitting to scrap procurement, processing, and logistics.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of the scrap yard's operational strategy.
- Oversee site development, infrastructure setup, and obtaining necessary permits.
- Establish efficient processes for scrap collection, sorting, processing, and inventory management.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure the scrap meets our steel production standards.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and environmental regulations.
- Build and manage a high-performing operational team.
- Develop and manage budgets and track operational performance.
- Foster strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and local communities.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in scrap yard management or a similar industrial environment.
- Proven track record of success in leading and managing large-scale operations.
- Strong understanding of scrap metal processing, quality control, and logistics.
- Excellent knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
