Chief Operation Officer

Job Summary

A Chief Operating Officer (COO) in the Electrical - Mechanical Industry is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational functions of a company, ensuring efficient processes, high-quality products, and profitability. Will be responsible to implement strategies, optimize resource utilization, and drive the company’s operational goals.

Responsibilities

Operational Leadership:

  • Oversee daily operations and ensure processes run efficiently across manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, and customer service.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies that align with the company’s growth and financial goals.
  • Collaborate with department heads (production, engineering, maintenance) to streamline workflows and improve productivity.

Strategic Planning

  • Assist in developing and implementing long-term operational plans, including the integration of new technologies, methodologies, and equipment.
  • Participate in business planning sessions and translate strategic goals into operational targets.

Process Optimization

  • Analyze current operations and identify opportunities for improvement, focusing on increasing efficiency, reducing waste, and minimizing downtime.
  • Lead initiatives for lean manufacturing and Six Sigma practices to optimize processes.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage and mentor the operations team, including plant managers, engineers, and production staff.
  • Ensure continuous training and development to enhance team performance and technical skills.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure that all operational activities comply with industry regulations and standards, including safety, environmental, and quality assurance policies.
  • Oversee risk management processes to ensure a safe working environment.

Financial Management

  • Develop and manage budgets for operational departments.
  • Monitor key financial metrics, ensuring that production costs are controlled, and profitability is maximized.

Supply Chain & Vendor Management

  • Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to manage inventory, reduce lead times, and establish strong relationships with suppliers and service providers.
  • Oversee logistics and ensure timely delivery of products to clients.

Customer Focus

  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to understand client needs and translate them into operational requirements.
  • Ensure high product quality and on-time delivery to meet or exceed customer expectations.


Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related fields) or Business Management; an MBA or Master’s in Engineering is preferred.
  • Proven experience (10+ years) in operations management, preferably within the electrical, mechanical, or manufacturing industries.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with experience in managing cross-functional teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control standards, and industrial equipment.
  • Experience with operational excellence initiatives like Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and other operational software used in the industry.
