Childcare Floating Teacher
Description
Northstar Preschools | Washington Terrace, UT | Full-Time
We’re looking for a dependable, hands-on teacher to join our team at Northstar Washington Terrace! As our floater teacher, you’ll work with children from infants through school age. You might help with morning drop-off, lead a learning center in Pre-K, or step into the toddler room while a teacher takes lunch. We’re looking for someone who enjoys getting to know children across the center and can help each classroom keep its routine.
Responsibilities and duties
Provide classroom coverage during teacher breaks, absences, and transitions. Take the lead in the classroom when assigned.
Actively supervise children indoors and outdoors, keep accurate headcounts, and follow center procedures for classroom ratios and child safety.
Lead and support age-appropriate activities, including learning centers, stories, art, and hands-on outdoor exploration.
Help with daily care routines such as meals, snacks, diapering, toileting, handwashing, and rest time, depending on the age group.
Build warm relationships with children and use positive guidance to help them work through conflicts, practice classroom expectations, and become more independent.
Prepare materials, clean and sanitize classroom spaces and supplies, and reset learning centers for the next activity.
Communicate with classroom teachers and administrators about children’s needs, incidents, and important updates so the next teacher knows what happened during your shift.
Follow center policies and participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development.
Who we’re looking for
Someone who shows up reliably, stays calm when plans change, and takes initiative. If you enjoy getting down on the floor to play, jumping into an activity, and helping teammates when a classroom gets busy, we’d love to hear from you.
