Summary

Leads after-school enrichment activities for children in a homeless shelter, planning games and crafts and coordinating cleanup and attendance tracking.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Children’s Activity Leader develops and implements academic and enrichment activities for groups of 10+ children residing at FESCO’s Banyan House and Les Marquis Emergency Shelter.

We are seeking staff to work the following schedule:

Monday-Thursday 5:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

This position is covered under the SEIU 1021 Collective Bargaining Agreement. In addition to the established base pay, members will receive negotiated annual increases as follows:

  • January 2027: 3% base pay increase

Future increases will be subject to the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and facilitate age appropriate activities at Les Marquis House and Banyan House.
  • Direct program volunteers during children's activity.
  • Foster healthy development through interactions and play with children.
  • Coordinate cleanup of the play space at the end of each shift.
  • Maintain communication with program staff and volunteers.

Administrative Duties:

  • Develop monthly activity calendar(s)
  • Complete daily participant attendance sheets and service logs
  • Completes orientation with families upon entry which include child assessments, participation agreements, and support with school enrollment forms

Other:

  • Attend trainings and participate in events relevant to key responsibilities
  • Leads and collaborate on special projects related to agency objectives as appropriate
  • Other miscellaneous duties as appropriate
