Leads Novotech’s Biometrics team in Shanghai, overseeing data management, biostatistics, compliance, and project delivery for clinical research, while managing budgets, hiring, and team development.
Director Biometrics
This role has responsibility for overall leadership of Novotech’s Biometrics function and team, including the implementation and maintenance of function specific systems, processes and compliance.
The Director Biometrics is responsible for ensuring the Biometrics team is trained, supported and managed to conduct Data Management and Biostatistics according to business requirements.
Responsibilities
- Management of Biometrics functional budget, ensuring revenue targets are met and expenses are appropriately managed.
- Implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of function specific systems and processes in line with agreed corporate strategy.
- Management oversight of Biometrics components of projects. May act as Project Director for “stand-alone” Biometrics projects.
- Collaboration with Business Development (BD) to contribute to new business opportunities and expansion of Biometrics project work.
- Determination of project feasibility from a Biometrics perspective.
- Input into preparation of RFPs in liaison with BD and the clinical team, participation in client meetings and bid defence as required.
- Collaboration with BD to assist in the marketing and growth of the Biometrics function at Novotech.
- Resourcing of projects with appropriately qualified and trained personnel. Hiring of new staff in line with project requirements and revenue projections.
- Line management, career development and support for Biometrics team according to Novotech policies and processes. Regular meetings with line reports to review their workload, welfare and developmental needs.
- Monitor the quality of line reports work on an ongoing basis ensuring compliance with Novotech SOPs, ICH GCP Guidelines and local regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with Learning and Development Manager, Human Resources and Project Managers as necessary, to address individual learning requirements for line reports.
- Performance management and development of line reports. Maintain promotion and succession plan for own teams. Ensure performance and salary review take place in accordance with company procedures.
- Review and approve internal expense requests and leave requests, in line with company procedures.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Graduate in a clinical, life science or biometrics related field and/or at least 10 year’s experience in Biometrics roles in a pharmaceutical company, CRO or similar. At least 5 years management experience in Clinical Research and Biometrics roles.
