About the role
We are seeking a Chinese Translator Construction Site to join CHEC (Thai) Company Limited on a contract basis. This role is positioned within our Marketing & Communications function and represents a key opportunity to bridge language and communication gaps on our construction sites in Bang Phli, Samut Prakan. As a Chinese Translator, you will be instrumental in facilitating clear, accurate communication between our Chinese-speaking personnel, contractors, and Thai-based teams, ensuring seamless coordination and compliance across all construction operations. This position is critical to maintaining operational efficiency, safety standards, and positive stakeholder relationships on site.
Key responsibilities
Providing accurate and timely translation services between Chinese and Thai languages for all construction site communications, including meetings, briefings, safety instructions, and documentation
Assisting in the interpretation of technical construction documents, blueprints, specifications, and contractual agreements to ensure complete understanding between all parties
Supporting communication between Chinese project managers, engineers, and Thai construction teams to facilitate smooth daily operations
Translating safety protocols, health and safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and worker understanding
Assisting with site induction and training programmes for Chinese-speaking personnel and contractors
Maintaining accurate records of translated communications and documentation as required
Supporting problem-solving discussions and negotiations between Chinese and Thai stakeholders to resolve site-related issues promptly
Ensuring cultural sensitivity and professional communication standards in all translation and interpretation activities
What we're looking for
Fluent bilingual proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and Thai (written and spoken), with demonstrated translation experience
Previous experience working as a translator or interpreter, preferably in a construction, engineering, or industrial environment
Strong understanding of construction terminology, technical specifications, and industry-specific vocabulary in both languages
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey complex technical information accurately and clearly
Professional approach to confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive project information
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multicultural team environment
Flexibility and reliability to meet the demands of a construction site schedule, including potential shift variations
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in all translation work
Preferred: Experience working on construction sites or within the construction industry; certification in translation or interpretation; familiarity with construction management systems and safety protocols
