Civil Client Manager

You’ve proven you can engineer projects. What do you want to build next?

Maybe you are not looking for another job. You have earned your P.E. You know how to manage projects. Clients trust your technical judgment. You have built a solid career.

But you may also be wondering what comes next. If you want more influence with clients, greater ownership of relationships, a path into leadership, and a career that leaves room for life outside of work, Entech Engineering would like to talk with you.

We are looking for a Civil Client Manager with 5 to 10 years of experience who is ready to move beyond simply managing projects and begin helping lead clients, relationships, and the future of our Civil Engineering practice.

Inherit Relationships. Earn Trust. Build What Comes Next.

Entech has established client relationships that have been built over years.

As part of our succession planning, we are intentionally developing the next generation of professionals who will lead those relationships. You will work alongside senior Entech leaders, learn the history and priorities of key clients, progressively assume responsibility for those relationships, and become someone clients trust to help them think through what comes next.

This means knowing more than the project. It means knowing the client. Understanding what they are trying to accomplish. Knowing the people who influence decisions. Understanding their capital plans, upcoming projects, compliance challenges, and strategic priorities. Educating them to help them make more informed decisions. Bringing the right Entech resources to the table. Delivering on what we promise. And recognizing where else we can help. This is how Entech defines client management.

What You Will Own

Client relationships.
Become a trusted advisor to assigned clients and take responsibility for protecting and strengthening those relationships.

The client growth plan.
Know where the client is today and where they are headed. Map relationships, understand priorities, capture upcoming projects and capital plans, identify compliance and infrastructure needs, and coordinate Entech's engagement across the organization.

Project leadership.
Lead civil engineering projects and multidisciplinary teams while maintaining accountability for scope, schedule, budget, quality, and the client experience.

The next opportunity to create value.
Listen for what is coming next. Connect clients with other Entech expertise when it makes sense.

Relationship depth.
Build connections beyond a single project or contact. Help create durable institutional relationships between the client and Entech.

People and practice leadership.
Mentor developing professionals, share your judgment and experience, and progressively take a larger role in the direction and growth of Entech's Civil Engineering practice.

How We Will Know You Are Successful

We will look at what matters:

  • Clients choose to work with Entech again.
  • Relationships become deeper and stronger.
  • Clients are satisfied with their experience.
  • We understand future needs before they become RFPs.
  • Existing relationships create new opportunities.
  • Clients benefit from more of Entech's capabilities.
  • The trust built by today's senior leaders successfully transfers to the next generation.

A Desirable Schedule

Civil engineering can be a rewarding career. It can also become a lifestyle with a schedule built around recurring night meetings. This role is different at Entech. There will be occasional evening commitments, client events, and professional activities. But recurring monthly night meetings are not an expectation of this position. You can lead significant clients, grow professionally, help build a practice, and be home for dinner.

This role can be based from any of our Entech offices in Pennsylvania (Reading, Beaver Falls, Pottsville, Lancaster, Mountain Top, Lehigh Valley, Hawley), with flexible work arrangements.

Who We Are Looking For

You are probably already a successful civil engineer.

You have approximately 5 to 10 years of professional experience, your P.E. license, and experience with land development and NPDES permitting.

You understand the fundamentals of managing projects, teams, budgets, schedules, quality, and client expectations.

But technical capability alone is not what will make you exceptional in this role.

You genuinely like clients. You are curious about their organizations and what they are trying to accomplish.

You build trust naturally because you listen, follow through, communicate clearly, and do what you say you will do.

You can lead a project meeting, talk with a decision maker, mentor a younger engineer, work through a difficult client issue, and recognize a new opportunity.

Your Technical Foundation

What You Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
  • Approximately 5 to 10 years of professional civil engineering experience
  • Active P.E. license, preferably in Pennsylvania or ability to obtain Pennsylvania licensure through reciprocity
  • Experience with land development, PennDOT and NPDES permitting
  • Civil engineering project management experience
  • Experience working directly with clients
  • Ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams

What Would Add Value

Experience mentoring professionals, developing client relationships, preparing scopes and proposals, or working across municipal, institutional, energy, commercial, and industrial markets would be valuable.

Familiarity with Civil 3D, GIS, CRM systems, and emerging AI-enabled engineering tools is also useful.

Maybe You Are Not Looking. That's Okay.

In fact, some of the people we most want to meet probably aren't.

You may be respected at your current firm. You may like the people you work with. You may not have opened a job board in years.

But if you have started asking yourself whether there is a place where you could have more influence, inherit meaningful client relationships, help shape a civil engineering practice, and build a bigger career without giving up the rest of your time outside of the office, it may be worth having a conversation.
