Job Purpose

We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer / Senior Infrastructure Draftsman to support ongoing external works and infrastructure engineering activities on the New Kigali International Airport Project in Rwanda.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation, development, coordination, and maintenance of infrastructure drawings and BIM models covering external site works, roads, grading, stormwater drainage, underground utilities, and associated infrastructure systems.

The position requires strong technical capability in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit, together with extensive experience in infrastructure engineering, multidisciplinary coordination, and BIM environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, develop, and update infrastructure shop drawings and coordinated layouts using AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit.
• Coordinate external utilities and infrastructure services, including:
• Stormwater drainage
• Foul sewer networks
• Water supply networks
• Irrigation networks
• Electrical duct banks
• Telecom networks
• Other underground and external site services
• Review and coordinate site grading, finished levels, road levels, slopes, and interface requirements with Architectural, Structural, MEP, Landscape, and other relevant disciplines.
• Develop and update stormwater drainage layouts, profiles, catchment areas, and related engineering information, while supporting drainage calculations as required.
• Prepare plan and profile drawings, longitudinal sections, cross-sections, grading plans, and utility corridor drawings.
• Coordinate with survey teams regarding existing site conditions, benchmarks, levels, as-built information, and engineering requirements.
• Identify potential infrastructure conflicts and support their resolution through BIM and multidisciplinary coordination processes.
• Support the preparation and technical review of RFIs, technical submissions, design coordination comments, engineering reports, and related project documentation.
• Review consultant and client comments and incorporate approved changes into drawings, models, and engineering documentation.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, consultants, utility authorities, and other project stakeholders to ensure compliance with approved design requirements and project specifications.
• Develop, maintain, and update infrastructure BIM models and extract coordinated drawings, schedules, and quantities where required.
• Ensure drawings and models comply with project standards, specifications, BIM requirements, and document-control procedures.
• Support site and construction teams in resolving infrastructure-related technical and coordination issues.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent relevant qualification.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in infrastructure, external works, or site development projects.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Revit.
• Demonstrated experience in:
• Roads and access infrastructure
• Site grading and earthworks
• Stormwater drainage
• Sewer and water networks
• Underground utility coordination
• Site development and external works
• Strong understanding of BIM processes, multidisciplinary coordination, and clash resolution.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, survey information, and design documentation.
• Strong coordination and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with engineering, construction, BIM, survey, and subcontractor teams.

Preferred Experience

Previous experience on airport or aviation infrastructure projects will be considered a strong advantage.

• Large-scale infrastructure projects
• Industrial developments
• Major mixed-use developments
• Complex multidisciplinary BIM projects
