Position Overview:

Aurora is seeking a Civil Engineer Intern to join our Houston team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a student or early-career engineering professional to gain hands-on experience in civil engineering design, project coordination, technical calculations, drafting, and field-related activities.

The Civil Engineer Intern will work closely with Project Managers, Team Leads, and engineering staff to support multiple phases of project development, from preliminary design through construction close-out. This role is ideal for a motivated individual who is eager to develop technical skills, learn industry standards and best practices, and contribute to high-quality infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities:

• Work as part of a project team under the direction of a Team Lead, Project Manager, or senior engineering staff.
• Assist with engineering calculations, evaluations, and studies.
• Prepare engineering layouts, drawings, and design documents using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Support the development of technical specifications, reports, and project documentation.
• Assist with data collection, research, and review of utility records.
• Review and analyze reports, maps, drawings, survey data, and other technical information.
• Support project coordination efforts with internal teams, consultants, and other agencies as needed.
• Perform limited field engineering tasks, including site observations, documentation of field conditions, verification of contractor adherence to design documents, and support for field modifications.
• Maintain organized project files and assist with general engineering and administrative tasks related to project delivery.

Requirements:

• Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior in a Civil Engineering program. Mechanical Engineering students with an interest in civil infrastructure, utilities, or related project work may also be considered.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• 0–1 year of related internship, academic, or work experience.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD required; exposure to Civil 3D preferred.
• Interest in civil infrastructure, water/wastewater, utilities, roadway, or municipal engineering projects is strongly recommended.
