Civil Engineer
Summary
Oversees on-site civil engineering and construction activities for residential or mixed-use projects, managing contractors, ensuring quality and safety, and maintaining compliance with Nigerian standards.
The Site Civil Engineer will oversee day-to-day construction operations, manage contractors and site personnel, monitor project progress, maintain quality control, and ensure compliance with engineering standards, statutory regulations, and health and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise and coordinate all civil engineering and construction activities on site.
* Ensure work is executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
* Monitor construction quality and ensure compliance with engineering standards.
* Coordinate contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers.
* Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly site progress reports.
* Monitor material usage and minimize wastage.
* Conduct site inspections and resolve technical issues promptly.
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
* Review and verify contractors' work before approval.
* Assist in project planning, scheduling, and cost control.
* Attend site meetings and provide technical recommendations.
* Maintain accurate site records and documentation.
Required Skills:
* Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles and construction methods.
* Excellent site supervision and project management skills.
* Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and other engineering software.
* Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Good report writing and documentation skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Education
* Bachelor's Degree (B.Eng./B.Tech.) or HND in Civil Engineering.
* COREN registration or NSE membership is an added advantage.
Experience
* 3–5 years' relevant experience as a Site Civil Engineer or in a similar role.
* Experience in residential, commercial, or mixed-use construction projects.
* Practical knowledge of structural, concrete, drainage, roadworks, and finishing works.
* Strong understanding of Nigerian building codes and construction standards.
* Ability to manage contractors and multiple site activities effectively.
