Role Purpose:
This position is within the Insurance & Claims Department, based out of our Dallas Fort Worth head office. Reporting to the Director of Insurance & Claims, the position holder will be responsible for assisting the Director of Insurance & Claims with Workers’ Compensation and auto claims among other tasks. The position holder will also manage and oversee the leave of absence team.
The Manager Insurance and Claims, Americas oversees, manages, administers, and coordinates leave of absences, return to work, Workers’ Compensation, and injury prevention. This role oversees the Workers’ Compensation case management – ensuring that staff injured on the job receive timely care; that restrictions are properly managed, and light-duty assigned as appropriate; that available benefits are communicated; that return-to-work requirements and documentation are met; and that suspect claims are challenged and investigated, as necessary. This position also includes assisting the Director of Insurance and Claims by supporting the Risk team in the identification, evaluation, and minimization of work-related injuries as well as placing insurance coverages and managing automotive, general liability, aviation, and pollution claims.

What you will be doing
- Additionally, all Managers have the following safety-related responsibilities:
- Participate as a key member of the network risk management team promoting & driving the ‘Safety First’ culture – to include exercising Stop Work Authority (SWA) as necessary to prevent unsafe conditions or acts.
- Lead by example and immediately correct at-risk behaviors of staff; and provide on-the-spot training and coaching, as required.
- Implement the MA Safety Management System (SMS) within their area of control and encourage the engagement of their staff in the safety management processes
- Be familiar with all aspects of the local Emergency Response Plan/Local Contingency Plan
- Ensure staff adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and associated training
- Ensure that equipment is properly inspected before use; and that unsafe equipment is properly removed from service (via Red Tag and/or Lockout/Tagout procedures).
- Actively promote Menzies’ Fair & Just reporting culture at all levels of the business.
- Assume responsibility for reporting incidents and accidents into MORSE; and participate in required investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
- Maintain focus on operational procedures to ensure changing risks are addressed (via written and dynamic Risk Assessments) and safe working practices developed and adopted (via documented Local Operating Procedures and Training).
- Complete routine performance assessments of people, processes, and facilities/equipment using the SMART tool.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the Leave of Absence team
- Provide guidance to complex leave issues in accordance with all state and federal laws
- Provide guidance to local managers regarding their employees on leave
- Provide guidance to the leave team regarding extension of leaves, return to work and the interactive process to determine if Menzies can reasonably accommodate restrictions in accordance with all state and Federal laws
- Track all loss time and work status leaves for LOA and WC
- Review all WC Carrier received First Report of Injuries to ensure that all the information correct
- Review of all internal personal incidents received
- Review Records of Communication (ROC) for accuracy
- Upload new ROCs to SharePoint
- File internally the personal incidents and create an WC file in our system
- Provide/answer claims questions to WC and Auto claims adjusters
- Provide WC and Auto claim information to insurance carriers such as work status, employment status, personnel files, and wage history
- Provide COIs to locations
- Provide new vehicle insurance cards to Stations
- Attend weekly calls
- Track all loss time and work status leaves for LOA and WC
- Other duties as assigned

What we are looking for:
- College Bachelor’s Degree
- Previous claims handling experience in workers’ compensation
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen
- Must pass background check
- Ability to proficiently read, write and speak English
- Understanding of Microsoft programs including Excel, Word, PowerPoint & TEAMS
- Able to solve problems and write comprehensive reports
- Must be able to work within time constraints
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed
- Attention to detail
