Position: Cleaner (Part-Time)
Location: Car City (1515 28th Street)
Position Summary
Car City is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Part-Time Cleaner to maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment. This position is responsible for cleaning and maintaining offices, restrooms, locker rooms, lunchrooms, breakrooms, hallways, shop areas, and other common spaces. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, demonstrates strong attention to detail, and can work independently while maintaining consistent cleaning and sanitation standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Empty trash receptacles daily and replace liners as needed.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, locker room, breakrooms, lunchroom, and other designated spaces daily.
- Restock restroom and locker room supplies as needed using supplies provided in the designated storage area while maintaining current organization.
- Wipe down and disinfect counters, tables, door handles, and other high-touch surfaces on a regular basis.
- Sweep, dust, mop, and vacuum floors and surfaces on a regular basis.
- Clean the exterior of the lunchroom coffee machine, the interiors of microwaves, and other designated breakroom appliances on a weekly and as needed basis.
- Dust furniture, shelves, ledges, windowsills, and other horizontal surfaces as needed.
- Monitor cleaning supply inventory and notify management when supplies or equipment need replenishment.
- Safely operate cleaning equipment, including vacuums and floor-cleaning machines.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and cleaning standards.
- Perform additional cleaning and facility-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in janitorial, custodial, housekeeping, or professional cleaning is required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and follow instructions.
- Knowledge of proper cleaning products, equipment, and sanitation procedures.
- Ability to safely clean office equipment, furnishings, and other designated surfaces.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, organized environment.
- Reliable, punctual, dependable, respectful and a team player.
- Part-time availability to work Mon-Fri, with flexibility to cover when the other cleaner is absent (schedule below).
Schedule
This is a part-time position, requiring 2–2.5 hours per day on average, Monday through Friday – 5 days per week.
- Preferred schedule: Early morning, 5:30 a.m.–7:30 or 8:00 a.m.
- Alternative schedule: Evening, 5:00–7:00 p.m.
- Additional hours: Flexibility to work an extra hour each day as requested by management (e.g., when the other cleaner is absent).
The final schedule will be determined based on business needs and candidate availability.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach throughout the shift and facility.
- Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 25–40 pounds.
- Ability to perform repetitive cleaning tasks throughout the shift.
- Ability to safely use cleaning tools and equipment.
