Position Type: Full-Time, ContinuingLocation: Cape Breton Medical Campus (CBMC)

About The Campus:

Dalhousie University and Cape Breton University entered a partnership in 2022 to establish the Cape Breton Medical Campus in Sydney, NS, with a goal of admitting the first cohort of learners in 2025. CBMC supports Nova Scotia's health reform agenda by training culturally competent rural physicians, advancing collaborative care, and expanding interprofessional education. The campus is dedicated to increasing specialist capacity in rural communities and improving health outcomes through targeted research in aging, frailty, L'nu (Indigenous) health, and African Nova Scotian health.

Shape the Future of Rural Medicine in Nova Scotia:

The Clerkship Curriculum Coordinator manages the administrative, operational, and logistical execution of clinical rotations for third- and fourth-year medical students. Reporting to the UGME Operations Manager, you will serve as the primary link between students, healthcare sites, faculty preceptors, and university administration.

Core Responsibilities:

Rotation Scheduling: Design complex clinical rotation templates, secure learner placements with healthcare partners, and manage campus room bookings.
Assessment & Integrity: Audit faculty evaluations, manage student grades in medical education databases (One45, Brightspace, DalMedIx), and proctor examinations.
Faculty Support: Track and validate clinical teaching hours for payroll, and onboard new preceptors on curriculum and portal navigation.
Compliance & Committee Service: Compile accreditation data (CACMS/LCME) and provide administrative support to the Med 3 & 4 Clerkship Committee.

Qualifications And Skills:

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in business, education, or healthcare administration is typically preferred, or an equivalent mix of office administration diplomas and experience.
Experience: Requires 5 years of professional administration experience, ideally in post-secondary institutions or hospital-based medical education programs.

Technical & Soft Competencies:

Medical Systems Literacy: Direct familiarity with specialized educational software (e.g., One45, DalMedIx, Brightspace, or local health authority databases).
Calendar Management: The ability to build, resolve, and audit multi-layered rosters with highly variable clinical schedules.
Clear Communication: High emotional intelligence and clarity when interacting with stressed learners, busy clinicians, and educational regulators.
