Description

The Opportunity

We’re seeking an Associate-level Client CFO to serve as the lead finance partner for a portfolio of small business clients. You’ll run client engagements day to day: making sure the numbers are right, leading financial reviews with owners, and turning the results into practical decisions. This role offers a unique opportunity to work directly with our leadership team while making a meaningful impact on growing businesses that need strategic financial guidance.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the primary finance contact for a portfolio of clients, leading recurring financial reviews with business owners
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, KPI dashboards, and variance analysis yourself, then present them with clear, actionable recommendations
  • Review monthly closes prepared by our accounting team, and step in to fix issues directly: journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and cleanup
  • Build and own budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections from the ground up
  • Advise owners on pricing, profitability, cash management, and growth decisions
  • Prepare job costing, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion reporting for construction clients
  • Prepare lender packages and support financing, including SBA loan applications
  • Roll up your sleeves on accounting work whenever a client needs it, from catch-up bookkeeping to complex transactions

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • 6+ years of accounting and finance experience, including controller, finance manager, or FP&A leadership, or public accounting advisory work with small business clients
  • Strong command of GAAP, month-end close, financial statement preparation, and forecasting
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Excel; Sage and Xero experience preferred
  • Confidence leading client meetings and advising owners on financial decisions
  • Self-starter mentality with the ability to manage multiple clients independently while following structured processes
  • Genuine interest in business strategy and helping companies grow
  • Natural ability to explain complex financial information clearly to non-accountants

Nice to Have

  • Construction accounting experience (job costing, WIP, AIA billing, retainage)
  • CPA or progress toward a CPA
  • Experience with SBA lending or lender reporting
  • Experience with M&A
  • QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification or SAGE certification

Why You’ll Love This Role

  • Direct Mentorship: Work alongside and learn directly from our President, James Delaney, who brings deep experience scaling companies and building them for sustainable growth.
  • A Clear Path to Senior CFO: As you take on more complex clients and advisory work, you’ll grow into a senior fractional CFO role with expanded responsibility and compensation
  • Meaningful Impact: Help business owners understand their numbers and make decisions that change the trajectory of their companies
  • Variety: Exposure to a wide range of industries and business models
  • Purpose-Driven Work: Join a B-Corp committed to positive business impact

Position Details

  • Full-time, on-site in Center City Philadelphia
  • $100,000 base salary
  • Health, dental, 401(k), PTO
  • Performance bonus opportunity; with 401(k), total compensation of up to $120,000
