Client Support
Salary: $28 – $32 per hour
About the Role
AgriSmart is purpose-built payroll and workforce management platform trusted by leading horticultural and agricultural employers across New Zealand and Australia. We’re looking for a Client Support Specialist to be the first point of contact for our growers, packhouses, and agri-employers who rely on AgriSmart every day to pay their people accurately and stay compliant with complex award and visa scheme requirements.
This isn’t a generic helpdesk role. You’ll be supporting real-world payroll problems for real farms and orchards, where getting it right matters to workers’ pay packets and to an employer’s compliance obligations. If you like solving problems, explaining things clearly, and being genuinely useful to people who are busy running a business, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
• Respond to client support queries via phone, email, and chat in a timely, professional, and friendly manner
• Troubleshoot issues related to payroll, digital contracts, field timesheets, piece-rate, bin ticketing , and job costing
• Help clients understand how AgriSmart calculates pay under relevant awards and legislation, escalating complex compliance questions to the appropriate internal specialist
• Support seasonal visa scheme workflows (RSE and PALM) during peak onboarding periods
• Log, track, and manage support tickets through to resolution, keeping clients updated at every step
• Identify recurring issues or common points of confusion and feed this back to the product and training teams
• Assist with onboarding new clients, including basic platform setup and initial training where needed
• Maintain and contribute to help documentation, FAQs, and internal knowledge base articles
• Build strong relationships with clients so they see AgriSmart as a trusted partner, not just a software vendor
Required Skills
• Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain technical or numerical concepts in plain language
• Excellent problem-solving skills and patience when working through detailed, sometimes messy, real-world scenarios
• Comfortable working with numbers and payroll-style calculations (you don’t need an accounting background, but you need to be competent using spreadsheets)
• Strong attention to detail, since small errors in payroll data can have real consequences for clients and their staff
• Ability to manage multiple open tickets and prioritise effectively, especially during seasonal peak periods
• Confidence using or quickly learning SaaS platforms, ticketing systems, and basic reporting tools
• A calm, empathetic manner when dealing with clients who may be stressed or under time pressure
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior experience in a customer support, client success, or helpdesk role, ideally for a SaaS product
• Exposure to payroll, HR, or workforce management systems (not essential, but a strong plus)
• Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, agricultural or horticultural industry operations
• A tertiary qualification in business, commerce, agriculture, or a related field is welcomed but not required. We care more about aptitude and attitude than a specific degree
Company Culture
AgriSmart is a small, fast-moving team that takes real pride in solving hard problems for the agricultural sector. We work closely together, and we genuinely care about getting the detail right, because our clients’ businesses depend on it. You’ll have real ownership over your work here, and you’ll be able to see the direct impact of what you do on actual farms and orchards.
What Makes This Role Exciting
You’ll be working at the intersection of technology and one of the most essential, hands-on industries there is. Every day you’ll help growers and employers navigate genuinely complex problems (award rates, seasonal visa compliance, piece-rate calculations) and walk away having actually fixed something. As AgriSmart continues to grow across NZ, Australia, and beyond , there’s real room to grow with us: into specialist compliance roles, client success leadership, or product-facing positions, depending on where your strengths and interests take you.
