CLINIC AND PUBLIC HEALTH DIRECTOR

This position is a highly skilled professional role in public health and clinic nursing, responsible for directing nursing services in both clinic and community settings. The role includes administrative, supervisory, and consultative responsibilities. Key responsibilities include planning, organizing, and overseeing local public health nursing programs; coordinating services with community health organizations; developing and implementing nursing policies and procedures; and ensuring high standards of public health nursing practice.

This position requires strong leadership, communication, organizational, and public relations skills.

Essential Functions

1. Participate in the planning, coordination, and operation of public health clinics.
2. Provide direct client care, including:
   • Conducting patient interviews
   • Performing diagnostic and screening tests
   • Administering treatments and immunizations
   • Maintaining accurate clinical records
   • Making appropriate referrals
3. Assist in epidemiological monitoring, disease control efforts, and interpretation of communicable disease protocols.
4. Develop, implement, and evaluate administrative policies, procedures, and nursing components of specialized public health programs.
5. Oversee daily operations to ensure adequate staffing and coverage across all clinics and programs.
6. Develop, review, and maintain nursing protocols, standing orders, and documentation forms.
7. Assume operational leadership in the absence of the Administrator.
8. Participate in recruitment and hiring of nursing, support, and clerical staff in collaboration with leadership.
9. Provide onboarding, training, and supervision of new staff.
10. Supervise and evaluate nursing staff, home visitors, and clerical personnel.
11. Provide consultation to staff, community organizations, and external partners regarding program development.
12. Lead and participate in community outreach, health promotion, and education initiatives

This position is an on‑site role and is not eligible for remote or telecommuting work. Regular, in‑person attendance at the designated work location is an essential function of the position.
