Clinical Coder
Summary
Assigns ICD-10-AM and ACHI codes to eye-care procedures by reviewing medical records, ensuring compliance and data accuracy for healthcare reporting.
Responsibilities
- Abstract complete and accurate diagnoses and procedures after a thorough review of day surgery records and assign appropriate ICD-10-AM and ACHI codes.
- Input data into the clinical coding system.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and data integrity at all times.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals to clarify any incomplete or ambiguous documentation.
- Participate in internal coding audits and reviews.
- Maintain consistency in coding by optimizing coding output and quality.
- Monitor uncoded discharges from OAS system to achieve timely coding and meet subvention deadline.
- Work with relevant parties to resolve coding-related issues.
- Participate in continuing education and training of new coders.
- Keep up to date with coding standards and eye care-specific terminology.
- Identify and implement new initiatives related to operational processes and service standards.
Job Requirements
- Minimum Diploma in Allied Health Science or Medical Science.
- Candidates with Certificate in ICD-10-AM Coding would have an advantage.
- Background or qualification as an Optometrist or experience in optometry/eye care would have an advantage.
- Candidates with at least 1 year of healthcare experience would be preferred.
