- Wage: $165,000 annually
- Schedule: 9AM to 5PM, Monday- Friday
- Location: 120-34 Queens Boulevard in Kew Gardens, NY
What drives the core purpose of this job:
The Clinical Director/Psychologist serves as the primary clinical lead for Queens mental health diversion, forensic evaluation, and developing intellectual and developmental disability (IDD) services. The position conducts and oversees comprehensive psychological and forensic evaluations to inform court decision-making, release planning, and eligibility for Alternatives to Incarceration. The Clinical Director/Psychologist also ensures the quality and consistency of assessments and reports, supervises clinical staff, develops treatment recommendations, and provides consultation to courts and program partners.
What are the key responsibilities:
1. Conduct and sign comprehensive psychological and forensic evaluations for individuals referred for diversion, including IDD evaluations when indicated.
2. Complete evaluations within required timeframes, generally three weeks for standard assessments and up to six weeks for complex cases.
3. Conduct clinical interviews; develop psychosocial histories, diagnostic formulations, and risk assessments; determine the appropriate scope of each evaluation; and administer and interpret psychological testing when indicated, including violence risk, cognitive, and IDD assessments.
4. Review and integrate collateral information, including medical records, correctional health information, criminal history, prior treatment records, and relevant risk and needs assessment findings.
5. Prepare clear, defensible, and timely reports addressing diagnostic findings, diversion suitability, treatment needs, and level-of-care recommendations.
6. Provide courtroom testimony and clinical consultation regarding evaluation findings, participant eligibility, and treatment recommendations, as needed.
7. Translate evaluation findings into actionable treatment plans and provide clinical direction to staff responsible for implementation.
8. Review evaluations completed by consultants, post-doctoral fellows, associates, and limited permit staff to ensure accurate diagnostic interpretation, appropriate treatment planning, and consistent, high-quality reports.
9. Supervise and provide clinical oversight to clinical assessors, interns, externs, post-doctoral fellows, associates, and limited permit staff, as assigned.
10. Train staff on IDD accommodations, assessment protocols, and evidence-based forensic practices.
11. Lead case conferences, ongoing case reviews, and methods calibration to promote consistency and reliability across evaluators.
12. Provide crisis intervention and clinical consultation as needed.
13. Maintain complete, audit-ready client records and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, data-quality, contract, and reporting requirements.
14. Represent the agency and serve as a liaison at stakeholder meetings, court-related discussions, and community events, as requested.
15. Maintain productivity expectations consistent with contract requirements and program volume, and perform other relevant duties as assigned by supervision and EAC Network administration.
What key knowledge, skills, and abilities are required to excel in this role:
- Ability to conduct time-sensitive forensic evaluations within court-driven deadlines.
- Proficiency in administering and interpreting psychological, violence risk, cognitive, and IDD assessment instruments.
- Knowledge of justice-involved populations, behavioral health needs, and appropriate IDD accommodations within correctional and diversion settings.
- Ability to synthesize complex clinical, collateral, and risk-related information into structured reports and treatment plans.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including court-facing documentation, testimony, legal consultation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Ability to supervise, train, and support clinical staff while maintaining quality and consistency across the program.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Licensed Psychologist in New York State required.
• Demonstrated experience conducting psychological and forensic evaluations and preparing court-facing reports.
• Experience conducting violence risk, cognitive, and IDD assessments (e.g., WAIS-IV, ABAS-3, or Vineland) preferred.
• Experience providing clinical supervision preferred.
