Clinical Documentation Integrity Manager (Outpatient)

As we continue to grow our service offerings, we’re looking for experienced and motivated Outpatient CDI Staff Success Managers to join our dedicated team in a fully remote capacity.

As an OP CDI (Outpatient Clinical Documentation Integrity) Staff Success Manager, this individual will provide leadership, coaching, and support to CDI team members throughout their employee lifecycle. Their goal is to drive successful onboarding, communicate expectations and best practices, facilitate ongoing professional development, and promote staff engagement. In partnership with operational leaders, they will ensure employees have the knowledge, resources, and support necessary to deliver high-quality, compliant CDI services and achieve organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate onboarding of new employees including assessing any potential gaps and opportunities for training and support.
  • Provide support and direction to OP CDI staff about project requirements and clarity of expectations.
  • Monitor client work queues to ensure adequate staffing levels.
  • Monitor the productivity, quality, and performance levels within the CDI team to ensure high quality deliverables. Provide coaching and when necessary, implement improvement plans and/or disciplinary action with the team.
  • Track the performance metrics (quality, productivity, etc.) for the team and identify coaching opportunities to grow the skills of the team and elevate the overall metrics and excellence of all.
  • Participate in scheduled meetings with internal CDI team and give updated staffing report.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Team to ensure quality expectations are achieved and opportunities for development of staff are identified.
  • Manage the staff schedules including approving timesheets, PTO requests, LOA, etc.
  • Lead recruitment efforts for the CDI team by identifying staffing needs and collaborating with leadership and recruitment team to fill openings quickly.
  • Comply with UASI’s policies regarding the use and disclosure of protected health information which includes accessing and using protected health information only to the extent necessary to fulfill the above-mentioned responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2-4 years of outpatient CDI and/or Risk Adjustment experience
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience managing staffing operations, including resource planning, workload balancing, performance oversight, employee development, and alignment of staffing needs with client and operational goals
  • Active LPN or RN license required
  • CCDS, CCDS-O, CDIP, CDEO, CRC, and/or other relevant CDI, coding, or risk adjustment certifications strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Epic workflows, including interpretation and management of OurPractice Advisories (OPAs)
  • Strong understanding of: ICD-10-CM coding guidelines, HCC documentation and coding requirements
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable using MS Office, email, VPNs, virtual machines, two-factor authentication, and video conferencing tools (MS Teams, Zoom, etc.).
