Clinical Laboratory Scientist

About the Position: This position is located at Naval Medical Center with the Directorate of Clinical Support, Anatomical Support Pathology Division in San Diego, California. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

Perform advanced clinical laboratory testing and complex emergency analyses across all major laboratory departments to ensure proper performance and meet Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) requirements.

Oversee the collection, handling, preparation, and shipment of diagnostic specimens ensuring all procedures adhere to established clinical standards and laboratory protocols.

Modify new testing methods, procedures, and techniques to solve highly complex laboratory problems and expands available clinical services.

Verify instrument performance characteristics including accuracy, precision, and sensitivity to research technical problems and initiate corrective actions when necessary.

Audit laboratory worksheets, test results, and preventative maintenance logs to ensure completeness and accuracy of clinical data.

Consult with healthcare providers regarding complex or abnormal test results to assist in clinical diagnosis, prognosis, treatment efficiency, and recommended follow-up actions.
