Description

The Clinical Director oversees daily clinical and administrative operations of the office-based lab and vascular practice. This role manages OBL and office staff, patient scheduling, front office operations, procedure readiness, recovery, and follow-up. The position integrates office and OBL workflows to improve patient access, safety, service, and operational efficiency while overseeing staff development, supplies, equipment, and performance improvement.

The Clinical Director provides clinical support within their license and verified competencies. Physician decisions remain with the treating provider. Nursing assessment, nursing supervision, and other license-specific functions remain with appropriately qualified personnel; a Rad Tech serving in this role partners with a designated RN for nursing-specific oversight.

Working Relationships

Provides day-to-day leadership for OBL nurses, radiologic technologists, medical assistants, front desk, and administrative staff. Reports to the Director of OBL Development and works closely with the Medical Director, treating physicians, and quality, compliance, and revenue cycle teams. Coordinates with vendors and referral partners.

Working Conditions

  • Works in an outpatient procedural environment with exposure to blood and body fluids, sharps, radiation, and other clinical hazards; uses required protective equipment and follows established safety practices.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods, wearing radiation protection when indicated, and assisting with patient positioning, transfers, and equipment movement using safe techniques and assistance as needed.
  • Schedule follows office and OBL operating hours and may vary with patient needs. Must be able to perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

Required

  • Current, active, unrestricted professional licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Radiologic Technologist (Rad Tech), as applicable in the state of practice. Maintain all credentials required for assigned duties.
  • At least two years of clinical experience in a cardiac catheterization (cath) lab or interventional radiology (IR) lab.
  • Completion of an accredited nursing or radiologic technology program appropriate to professional licensure.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of procedural workflows, sterile technique, infection prevention, emergency response, and patient safety in a cath lab or IR environment.
  • Ability to supervise clinical and administrative teams, manage office and procedural workflows, and use EMR/EHR and practice management systems. Working knowledge of scheduling, insurance verification, authorizations, and front-end revenue cycle processes.

Preferred

  • Prior lead, supervisory, or management experience in an OBL, cath lab, IR lab, or specialty medical practice.
  • Experience with vascular interventions, quality improvement, inventory management, and staff competency development. Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
