Clinical Oncology Pharmacy Manager

Position Overview:

The Clinical Oncology Pharmacy Manager reports directly to the Director of Pharmacy and serves as a critical leader within the pharmacy department. This position demands strategic oversight of clinical pharmacy operations, direct management of professional pharmacy staff, and unwavering commitment to advancing patient care standards through evidence-based pharmaceutical services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct the planning, implementation, and management of clinical pharmacy services with emphasis on oncology patient care outcomes and safety protocols
• Provide authoritative leadership and professional development guidance to pharmacy staff, establishing and maintaining rigorous performance standards
• Ensure pharmaceutical services consistently meet institutional patient care requirements while optimizing resource allocation and cost-effectiveness
• Maintain accountability for regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and adherence to professional pharmacy standards
• Oversee clinical pharmacy operations and coordinate interdisciplinary initiatives with other healthcare departments
• Contribute to the advancement of pharmacy practice through research, publication, and professional engagement
• Supervise and mentor pharmacy students and residents in clinical and administrative pharmacy practice
• Establish and enforce protocols that ensure the highest standards of pharmaceutical care delivery
• Serve as a subject matter expert in oncology pharmacy practice and clinical decision-making

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Must have obtained an advanced degree (Pharm.D. or equivalent), completed a residency program approved by the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists, a fellowship in pharmacy, or have demonstrated a similar level of achievement in the practice of pharmacy.
• Must demonstrate leadership ability in working with and coordinating activities of others in developing improved pharmacy services.
• Must demonstrate verbal and written communication skills which enable manager to contribute effectively in the dissemination of information to all levels of health care personnel in the institution.
• The manager should likewise demonstrate a desire to contribute to the pharmaceutical literature.
• Must demonstrate knowledge of progressive pharmacy practice.
• Must have a previous work history of reliability, dependability, and a willingness to assume additional responsibility.
• Must be able to work with pharmacy students at all levels.
• Should have completed research which demonstrates originality and investigative ability in an area of administrative and/or clinical pharmacy practice.
• The work should be suitable for publication in the pharmaceutical or medical literature.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

• Must be licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of Michigan.
• Should be Board Certified in the area of specialty practice.
