Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Data Analyst, Clinical Services supports Bon Secours Mercy Health’s population health operations, clinical operations, and strategic initiatives through data analysis, reporting, and actionable insights. This role operates within GBS and partners closely with clinical, operational, and population health teams to analyze healthcare data, develop dashboards and reports, monitor performance indicators, and identify trends requiring intervention or process improvement.
The analyst is responsible for leveraging electronic health record (EHR) data, particularly from Epic, to support quality improvement initiatives, population health management, operational efficiency, and clinical performance monitoring across the system.
Essential Job Functions
Population Health & Clinical Analytics
Analyze population health data to identify trends, gaps in care, quality opportunities, and operational performance issues.
Support value-based care initiatives through analysis of patient outcomes, preventive care measures, risk stratification, and utilization patterns.
Monitor population health markers including chronic disease management, readmission rates, preventive screenings, care gaps, and quality metrics.
Perform Epic-based analyses to support clinical and operational decision-making.
Reporting & Dashboard Development
Design, develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards, scorecards, and operational reports for clinical and business stakeholders.
Create automated and ad hoc reporting solutions using healthcare and operational datasets.
Ensure reporting accuracy, consistency, and data integrity across systems and deliverables.
Translate complex datasets into meaningful visualizations and actionable insights for leadership and operational teams.
Trend Identification & Escalation
Identify emerging trends, anomalies, or performance concerns within patient and operational data.
Escalate findings that may require clinical review, operational intervention, workflow improvement, or compliance attention.
Support root cause analysis and contribute recommendations for corrective actions and process improvements.
Collaborate with stakeholders to track performance improvement initiatives and outcomes.
Operational & Stakeholder Support
Partner with clinical operations, population health, quality, and IT teams to understand reporting and analytics needs.
Support operational analytics initiatives focused on efficiency, patient access, throughput, and care coordination.
Participate in cross-functional projects involving data governance, reporting optimization, and healthcare analytics strategy.
Document reporting logic, business rules, and data definitions to support standardization and audit readiness.
Data Quality & Compliance
Ensure compliance with organizational data governance standards, HIPAA requirements, and healthcare regulatory guidelines.
Validate data accuracy and perform quality assurance checks on reports and dashboards.
Maintain confidentiality and security of patient and operational data.

Education
Required Minimum Education:
4 year/ Bachelors Degree
Specialty/Major:
Healthcare, Data Analytics, Information Systems or related field
Work Experience
Minimum Years and Type of Experience Required:
3+ years experience in healthcare analytics, clinical reporting, population health analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, or operational data analysis
Minimum Years and Type of Experience Preferred:
Experience working with Epic EHR data, proficiency in data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau or similar platforms
