Essential Responsibilities

Patient Care

  • Provides high-quality direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
  • Assists with activities of daily living, vital signs, specimen collection, EKGs, glucose monitoring, and other delegated patient care activities.
  • Accurately documents patient information according to hospital policy.
  • Communicates changes in patient condition promptly to the nursing team.

Clinical Analytics & Data Management

  • Develops, maintains, and updates Excel dashboards, reports, and data trackers.
  • Performs data collection, validation, and trend analysis for nursing quality indicators.
  • Creates pivot tables, charts, formulas, conditional formatting, and automated reports.
  • Assists leadership with monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), including:
    • Falls
    • Pressure injuries
    • Patient satisfaction
    • Staffing productivity
    • Overtime utilization
    • Patient throughput
    • Quality and safety metrics
  • Identifies trends and opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Supports preparation of reports for nursing leadership meetings, quality committees, and regulatory surveys.

Operational Support

  • Assists with scheduling reports, staffing analysis, and productivity monitoring.
  • Supports process improvement initiatives using Lean, PDSA, or A3 methodologies.
  • Maintains confidential databases and ensures data accuracy.
  • Collaborates with nursing leadership, quality, infection prevention, finance, and clinical departments on performance improvement projects.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Patient Care Technician certification preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of patient care experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required, including:
    • Pivot Tables
    • VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
    • INDEX/MATCH
    • Charts and graphs
    • Data validation
    • Conditional formatting
    • Dashboard development
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with electronic health records (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, etc.).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Power BI or Tableau.
  • Knowledge of healthcare quality metrics and regulatory standards.
  • Experience supporting nursing leadership or quality improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Lean Healthcare, Six Sigma, or performance improvement methodologies.
